I don't think Max is as durable as Joe.
I'll be honest, I didn't look up the actual numbers on Max vs Joe height and weight but just based off pics Joe seemed more filled out.
I do think Max is faster than Joe, which would give him the ability to break a longer one for a TD.

Depends on if Myles gets clear of his physical injuries. It sounded pretty foreboding.

If Brennan is healthy there is no QB battle. May be a manufactured one like a few years back between he and Burrow, but Myles will be the guy if healthy.

I was at the understanding that Myles may not be playing because of how bad the injury is

I said this a few weeks back, but I think Finley ends up at A&M

I could see this thinking if he was some seasoned starter that had a full year and then his part of this season.
in reality he is 1-2 as a starter with a pretty bad game in one of those losses. Plus he went against the easiest teams on the schedule.
Myles probably has the lead just based on time in the program, but Max looks to make better decisions and fit better mobility wise.

Even those that follow the game religiously undervalue QB mobility
Brennan has and will always struggle inside the 20 yd line.
They will never be able to open up the playbook and the passing lanes with a QB that must avoid contact
Easy to overlook that the most accurate productive passer in CFB history with 60 TDs in a single season

Myles really needs a dominate pass blocking line. He did look like he improved his pocket awareness vs vandy and mizzou but he still has aways to go. I'm not sure our line is going to be good enough to give him what he needs next year.
Hopefully if he comes back the injury doesn't make him shy away from being slightly more mobile

The coaches would be foolish to (even privately) name a starting QB going into the Spring. If nothing else, you hope the crucible of an open competition drives each of them to become better. All three QB's (ALL STARTING FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON) had their ups and downs. However, you can no longer say Brennan is clearly the most experienced QB. Yes, he's been in the program much longer, but meaningful game reps are the only way to truly gain great experience. To that end, the two Freshman have 7 starts between them with each playing, essentially, 5 games where they received meaningful snaps. Brennan has 3 starts to his name and you can make a strong argument those starts came against much weaker competition than what Finley and Johnson faced. The combined winning % of Brennan's three opponents is .275. The combined winning % of the Freshmen's opponents is .603
If Brennan is truly the best QB of the 3, then that will show in the practices leading up to next season. If I am the OC/HC I make it clear that in no, way shape or form are any of the 3 the presumptive starter in 2021. However, they will all have the opportunity to win that spot.
This is the complete opposite of the 2018 spring battle where only one guy had (limited) experience and the coaching staff seemed to be divided on if he was good enough or not. All three guys have shown they are capable enough to lead you to wins vs. SEC opponents. The question is who is the best of the bunch.

Myles did look better vs vandy, who had a d just as bad as us, and mizzou. He was 1-2 though which is a bad look and he was horrible vs state.
Everyone talks about Mizzou and Mississippi State being bad, but if you look at the 5 opponents that either Brennan or Johnson started against, those opponents have been better this year than folks seem to think. here’s where their defenses rank in the SEC, along with LSU’s offensive output against each team:
Passing Defense (LSU passing yards):
#5 - Missouri (430 yards)
#7 - Mississippi State (345 yards)
#9 - Florida (239 yards)
#12 - Vanderbilt (337 yards)
#14 - Ole Miss (435 yards)
Total Defense (LSU total yards):
#4 - Mississippi State (425 yards)
#7 - Florida (418 yards)
#9 - Missouri (479 yards)
#12 - Vanderbilt (498 yards)
#14 - Ole Miss (593 yards)
Scoring Defense (LSU offensive points):
#6 - Mississippi State (27 points)
#7 - Florida (30 points)
#9 - Missouri (41 points)
#13 - Vanderbilt (41 points)
#14 - Ole Miss (46 points)
Also, this is something I posted in my last thread with the passing charts for each QB:

We can argue all day about mobility, intangibles, decision making, etc., but here’s one thing I know to be true: Myles Brennan’s deep ball is every bit as accurate as the two Heisman finalists in the SEC.
I do agree that there needs to be a competition in the spring. But I think Myles is the favorite in that competition.

This is the best problem a team can have: multiple qualified starters at quarterback. Let them battle it out. Let the strongest lead the team.
It’s a good position for LSU to be in, FOR A CHANGE.

I think Brennan will win the job if healthy, and that is what is best for long-term QB hierarchy.
However, I want the best QB to win it and I hope it's a true open competition.
I think QB fan-boys are sad and we shouldn't root for certain players to win jobs.

damn if they already think nuss is in a battle the kid is going to be a stud
I doubt it happens but it wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up becoming the starter. The dude has spent his life adapting to new surroundings and flourishing so the high school to college jump won’t be as big to him as it is to most.

Yep, I want the best out of the 4 guys we have taken the snaps next year.
I don’t get rooting for one over the others or thinking Myles should be handed the role

It's laughable how people think Brenan will have to battle to be the starting QB next year. If he is healthy, he is the starter.
Really? You think the coaches will start Brennan even if one of the other QBs is better? You are the one who is laughable.

I remember when after Finley's first start, everyone said he was going to take over at QB when Brenan returned. Now Johnson plays 2 games and he is crowned the starter. Jeez man,
It’s Brennan’s job to lose, and not his fault that competition is stronger than if he got hurt, but his backups got some very real reps which have naturally increased competition.
Max looked very good as a true freshman. Finley looked capable. Could easily beat out Brennan with two full camps (three including preseason). That’s not a knock on him as I think he could be a fine QB (great by LSU standards), his injury tightened the gap.

Nussmeier will be a STAR! The only question is when. If Brennan comes back then he is your starter in 2021. If I was a betting man I would put my $$ on Nussmeier to be the guy in 2022. But, Johnson is easy to overlook. He is not the flashiest, fastest, or have the strongest arm but he definitely has that "IT"!!

Some QB’s just know how to manage games without turnovers and win, that’s Max in spades.

It seems to me that one of the 3 will transfer after Spring practice. I can't blame anyone for doing so as they all want to play.

It seems like it's been years since those first few games where Brennan started - so my memory is fuzzy - but I recall frequently being frustrated about Brennan's lack of pocket awareness. It seemed like he would actually move into the pressure or leave a clean pocket unnecessarily. Other than that, his throws were beautiful.
I felt like the offense ran better with Max and that we were more multiple when he was in. His run threat added a new dimension just when opponents started bottling us up.
Good problems to have as long as we don't pull a Kirby.
