There are far more competent backups in the nfl than fields currently.
I'd love to see this list. Fields' last 2 seasons as a backup have been solid

Nuss isn't beating him out in any universe

Nuss will start as practice team guy and Fields will eventually move on or get passed up. His best days are behind him. Guy is on his 4th team in 6 years. They aren’t going to keep paying him good money to sit behind Mahomes. This is a great spot for Nuss

It's way easier to argue this is a terrible fit They normally only carry 2 QBs and Fields will be comically ahead of him on the depth chart He does not fit the Andy Reid QB mold at all He doesn't really even have much scout team value because his athleticism makes it impossible to credibly emulate anyone This is a premium camp arm pick that you hope you can dump for something better than a 7th down the road. He's realistically cooked
This is correct

He still needs to battle but I think even he knows his best chance is with another team. Not uncommon at all

He had a 38.7 qbr last year. Hes a running threat that cannot throw the ball.
Which would make him 26th among qualified QBs

And 24th in QB rating. Just behind Mahomes at 23rd

Where are all these superior backups?

Where would his 139 passing yards a game put him?

Not too high. But when you have poor weapons and OL that’s not a primary stat to target. 7 TDs and 1 INT in 204 passes is solid and all you can realistically expect

Sorry but he’s one of the best backups in the league. And KC explicitly traded for him to start in the event Mahomes isn't ready Week 1

If he. Is lucky, he will get healthy enough to make a practice squad for a couple of years….

Great opportunity for Nuss. If he can’t beat our Fields for the backup then he isn’t meant for the NFL.

Diego Pavia of Vanderbilt was a Heisman Trophy finalist and he wasn’t even drafted at all.

Mahomes missed time last year and Chiefs are in position for quick turnaround. They aren’t risking a playoff run to Nuss if Mahomes misses time again. Nuss is in an awful spot, Fields is needed.

How many 5'9" child-like retards have ever been drafted? He wasn't special enough to be the first

f the Chiefs thought Nuss was the heir to Mahomes, they'd have taken him much, much earlier.

Reid will pull the ole Bellichick. Get Nuss ready and start him in a game that's a great matchup for him to drive up some trade value then ship him off for a 2nd round pick

Not sure I recall Bill doing this. Garoppolo was traded for a 2nd round pick but he was a 2nd round pick

If we're comparing Belichick QBs, Nuss is closer to a less intelligent and less athletic (but more entitled) Danny Etling

What's the scientific term for the 10th QB taken in the 7th round compensatory range in an absolute dogshit QB class?

Because it's probably worse than "sucks"
