The school, in fact, has tested Fulton more than two dozen times since the NCAA test in 2016. He has passed each test

Seems ludicrous that he is still ineligible. Why subject someone to such frequent testing if you're just going to keep them suspended anyway?
If LSU had a defined treatment program MAYBE that would carry weight.

I put the maybe for two reasons:
1. May have to be the one that identifies it to matter; if the NCAA is the source, none of that may matter.

2. Might actually had one, but deferred to the NCAA because it was their test, not LSU's, that was failed.

Remember, the NCAA loves it, and is much more lenient, if you self-report and then have a process in place to self discipline.

ETA: and when Orgeron said his status was 'up in the air' that was dishonest. No, he has a 2yr suspension; that is not up in the air.

I don’t doubt that Matheiu failed multiple tests before being suspended and booted off the team. I highly doubt any SEC school is following the letter of the law with their drug testing policies... Especially when ex Bama players admit to failing drug tests and don’t miss a single game. My main point is that there’s probably not another program in the SEC that would’ve kicked a Matheiu type player off their team

Two year penalty is too stiff in this matter. Especially a first time offense for a kid that’s never been in trouble. I hope they can get it reduced to time served.

So he allegedly cheated on a drug test and now the NCAA somehow finds it proportionate to jeopardize his potential NFL career with a ridiculously long sidelining? Wow, if that’s the case Mr. Fulton might want to make sure the ESPN anti-NCAA - sports “ journalism “ crew knows about this. Sounds like a cause celebre if ever there was one.

Young man obviously made a mistake, which included a colossal lapse in judgement. With that said it appears he is fulfilling the suspension and wants to be a Tiger when he becomes eligible again. Responsible and accountable, and moving forward. Good luck Kristian and the Fulton family!

Are there other examples of players getting a 2 year suspension for the same thing? I've personally never heard of anything like this, but maybe the precedent has already been set.

Weed and not play college football

Tough choice these kids have to make. Wouldn’t want to go through that decision.

NCAA doesn't test for weed. Only stuff to give an athlete and unfair advantage.

First of all, Kelvin Joseph can be a good CB. Just bc his high school coach played him as a safety his last two years doesn't mean he doesn't have the hips to play CB. He's every bit as athletic as Goodrich and bigger.

But he was recruited to play S, because that's what he's better at. Now he HAS to play corner because we whiffed on EVERYONE else. Because you move someone around doesn't suddenly make it right. The plan was never to have Joseph play CB here, it became an emergency solution to not signing anyone at CB.

Also, I tihnk you're still missing the point entirely.

We lost 4 guys at CB they knew about well in advance for recruiting, then lost a 5th (Still before NSD). Leading up to signing day, they were still PERFECTLY FINE and content that as long as Surtain signed, they didn't need anyone else at CB, despite the fact Goodrich wanted on board, including the week leading up to NSD. They told him to hold on.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out -4 + 1 still puts you way into the negative. -4 + 2 still quite a bit into the negative.

This shite makes no damn sense. Love how we would NEVER see Alabama get hammered like this, their guys get a half off and slap on the wrist (along with a Charger).

Only the trenches matter. We can always turn WRs into DBs.

Once again you fail to get the point and yet, you insult someone else as being stupid. Can't make this shite up lol

Anyone who doesn't see how this is poor roster management just doesn't want to see it. "Eaux" knew about the 2 year suspension dumbass. It's halfway over now. It wasn't just announced that it's 2 years. Yet, he did nothing in 2 recruiting cycles to account for the roster impact this is having. That's on the head coach. Get your head out your arse Pat.

The Advocate got this wrong. NCAA does test for recreational drugs.

NCAA Drug Testing Protocol

The relevant portion re: Fulton's suspension is 3.4. It's not because tampering counts as a failed test; it's simply that the penalty for tampering is 730 days suspension.

List of banned drugs NCAA tests for

It's just as likely that he knew he was going to get popped for Adderall and decided to tamper with his sample as it is that he knew he'd get popped for weed.

What was the timing of the failed drug test/tapering? Was it early in the 2016 season where worst case he can return during the early part of 2018?
