Very well could be the last straw.

It's just applying the 5 year rule to one cohort of athletes that were arbitrarily going to get left out of the ruling.

Amiya Joyner from the women's basketball listed there so that would be some more post depth.

I've never seen a guy with as many almost sacks as 2025 Jack Pyburn.

So, if he's granted the TRO, is he coming here or entering the portal?

It'd be great to have him here with Reliford out, but I'm not sure if he wants to come in for a position battle with Ross/ Brown vs. a guaranteed starting role.

Opening the can of worms to allow pro players back after signing contracts is a bit of an issue.

I won't pretend to know the rules about the semi-pro or developmental pro basketball players from overseas that come play here, but opening an NFL, NBA, MLB pipeline back to college for any player to compete their 5 years is a problem. Signing a pro contract is supposed to be it for college eligibility.

This pretty much kills college sports as we know it.

That's a pretty bad take.

If the NCAA had either ruled that seniors would be eligible for one more year under the 5 for five or simply delayed changing the rules until after the season started, they could have avoided all of this.

But because of the timing, a lot of seniors felt they couldn't pass up the opportunity to enter the draft in the hope they would get a restraining order. Like most of the NCAA's problems, their own ineptness has brought this to bear.

i would expect to see some type of action soon. especially with both the NFL and college season weeks away.

This is fascinating to me. Why is the ncaa a governing body at this point?

Well... the Saints cut Harris before their first preseason game. (Guy with the Scrabble name). He could definitely use a fallback plan.

But Pyburn? I had that game on in the background, he got 2 sacks in the Bucs-Jets game. Perspective, he got 2 sacks for LSU all of last year. He might just need to play in a different defense than what Baker runs.

Do injured players count toward roster limits? Will teams have spots for these guys or will they have to make cuts?

So if a player like Pyburn waits to see if he’s cut, will he miss enrollment cutoff or does he quit his NFL team now to get enrolled? Will the NFL hold him to his contract if he hasn’t been cut?

Or could be agent leverage to get a full NFL contract. Thats the next logical step in this disaster.

He wasn’t even drafted, that agent would get laughed out of the room

The NCAA is the cause of this by simply not ruling it sooner. As always, the NCAA finds a way to mess everything up they touch. Won't be long before they're dissolved because they're useless and just make the sport worse at every corner with the way they handle things. They wouldn't be in the NFL if they simply ruled it sooner.

Also, if these players did not graduate and left school in the Spring before completing classes to prepare for the combine and draft, they will not be meeting requirements for progress on their degrees to be eligible to play this Fall.

This is why lots of transfers don’t work out in the free transfer era.

Especially because they don’t have the summer classes left to make up what they missed.
