Skill spots are good but they are bad on the trenches

That’s where we will dominate

Won’t be close

Duquesne was one of the worst opponents I’ve ever seen an FBS team play. Their defensive line was made up of 4 small white guys who looked like they were current Episcopal students averaging 6’0” and around 220 pounds. It was almost impossible to tell their linebackers and DB’s apart because their LB’s were so small. It was literally impossible to tell where FSU excelled and didn’t because of how bad Duquesne was.

To say that FSU’s RB’s looked good, when the RB’s were bigger than anyone on Duquesne’s defense, is pointless. People so badly want to be scared of FSU because of Ed shitting the bed with UCLA and I’m just not seeing it

DU constantly got sacks and pressure on their qb. FLa St had no running game. FLA St defense looked slow even against a literal high school team.

Where do these people come from and how do they survive in the world with such stupidity?

Trolls come from under bridges and sometimes caves. They survive by having people respond to their posts.

We really want the transitive property to work in CFB, don’t we?

Watched first half after an hour + of ACCN filler of Osceola and Bowden.

I thought the skill players for Florida State seemed on the small side. They were faster than their opposition but not sure how that speed translates to a true football game.

They got away with things that wouldn’t fly against an SEC defense— a 3rd down shovel pass for 6 yards (resulting in first down) where three DBs were in arms length if the receiver. Running plays went for 5+ yards after contact— a decent line would have negated some of the Seminole rushing attack.

They were very disciplined— don’t recall a single penalty or stupid time out in first half. Couldn’t see much to evaluate on defense because DU was so overmatched.

FSU did not cover. We are good.

To be fair, they pulled starters early in the 3rd. They could have hung 70 if they wanted to.

My takeaways:
- Running backs run hard
- The QB can make shots downfield. Wasn't asked to make any tight throws yesterday.
- front seven appears undersized but very fast
- they have a really good safety. Can't remember the name, but he jumped off the screen as a level above the others

People want to crap on the opponent, but FSU did what you're supposed to do against that comp level. LSU has played several FCS opponents over the years, and it hasn't been more of a beatdown than what we saw yesterday.

I heard the same crap about UCLA last year in week 0. LSU better bring their A game, or it will be a loss. This LSU team has no margin for error against a team like FSU.

I eagerly waited to watch this game after the 1.5 hour weather delay. Game basically went as it should have with an outmatched opponent. I will say; I thought the FSU squad, in general, looked a lil light. The D was physical at times and the RB's look fast and have good instincts. If our game gets physical; I'd say we have the upper hand. I will be severely disappointed if LSU does not win this game. When the game switched to the NC vs FAMU; I didn't watch the second half, so, not sure if anything revealing happened in the rest of the game.

I mean they played an FCS team. One can’t really tell much.

That team also made a lot of mistakes when I was watching. Guy dropped an medium range pass in double coverage when he should have snagged it. Easy first down. FSU also made some mental mistakes here and there but didn’t look terrible. Duq’s DL isn’t ours. FSU really wasn’t challenged in the trenches on either side. When I was watching. I didn’t watch the whole game.

Going to reiterate my prediction from the stickied thread.

quote:

37-23 LSU.

Thinking FSU sleepwalks through their cupcake opener, and LSU punches them in the mouth to start the game. From there, back and forth with LSU an insurance TD in the 4th quarter.

Game will be won or lost by the LSU linebackers. Can't let FSU be successful on the ground between Travis and Ward, or LSU is in for a long game. I'm not too worried about their passing game.
