Since Bill O'Brien is a name we keep hearing is on the short list, thought you guys might want to see this article.

quote:

Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has been catching heat for his decisions in last night’s 41-38 upset to loss at Texas A&M.

In particular, O’Brien was blasted by fans and pundits for his play calling in a critical goal-line sequence midway through the fourth quarter. Trailing 31-27, Alabama had the ball at the A&M 3-yard line with a chance to take the lead.

O’Brien elected to throw three passes, which did not result in a touchdown. The Crimson Tide had to settle for a field goal, though they did eventually take a 38-31 lead with five minutes left.

Alabama’s defense was also poor throughout the game, but that didn’t prevent O’Brien from taking his share of flack.

Can’t believe Coach let them throw three straight that might be worse play calling I ever seen 1st and goal from the 3

stuff like this was happening way too much for Alabama. Bama’s OC and OL coach are two former NFL HCs, Bill O’Brien and Doug Marrone. Some of the issues were just inexcusable

I don't know why his name keeps popping up.

I don't want him anywhere near LSU.

This was before last night's game with them. I don't understand the draw.

I’d sacrifice a goat for 38 points right now

They are no happy with his play calling. Had to settle for way too many FGs.

Sure, but they had a special teams TD. I believe a blocked punt? I don't know about all the scores, but they could have put this game away with TDs over FGs. I would hate to see that again at LSU.

Miss St scored like 26 on A&M, so Alabama offense didn't even score a TD more than they did..

O'Brien is the one name I keep hearing that absolutely disgusts me. He gets all this credit for just 2 seasons coaching college with a team on sanctions. If anything he got a pretty sweet deal considering he could lose 9 games in 2 years and be considered a tremendous coach.

I'd rather a much more proven winner, regardless of circumstances. If you are going to be an a-hole then you better be great as well. Otherwise I am concerned how well he would actually recruit.

I don't even care what he did in the NFL. That is always irrelevant to me when it comes to preferred college coaches.

They also had a fumble and a RedZone int in the first half.

Pretty sure they put up over 500 yards of offense

I wouldn't say he completely shite the bed

IF BOB is brought here for an interview, I might reserve the right to donate to LSU.

I understand they put up 500 yards offense, but not really a ton of points considering those two things you mention. 2 short field turnovers and a special teams TD?

I'm thinking looking at that one game in a vacuum is a bit silly.

I'd prefer to evaluate him after the season.

He isn't high on my list but I don't think he sucks as a coordinator.

I gave him a hard pass even before this game. We can do better.

Anybody that trades Deandre Hopkins for a 2nd and a broke down David Johnson, do not want in a football building of my team. That trade couldn’t be done on Madden but this idiot did it.

It’s pretty easy, as an Alabama OC, to call plays if the offensive line gives the QB enough time to check his Insta, text his girl, and take a selfie with “Big Al” before he has to throw the ball.

Also had several dropped passes or just bad throws. At least 1 was a TD.

His players went to the Texans front office with texts and recorded conversations of BOB being verbally abusive. Basically a mutiny. Dude is an a-hole and not a good enough coach to warrant that behavior.

Well Saban not utilizing his timeouts at the end of the game needs to be discussed as well.

You make a good point. No team aside from Alabama has lost because they "settled" for FGs over TDs. Thanks for bringing that to our attention...

Best thing about BOB:

He’s a better coach than me. Not sure I can say that about our current coach.

O’Brien destroyed the Texans with bad decisions.
