Dear LaDOTD, Please fix I-12

No reflectors, no lane markers or reflective strips, god awful lighting and only one posted speed limit sign within the fist ... What 12 ~ 15 miles or so?
We can't do better than that?
The I-10 west exit that curves back to I-12 doesn't have ANY street lighting or reflective road markers?

Thanks,

I-12 is an extremely challenging route to maintain. It’s dramatic elevation changes and challenging curves. Gotta give the LaDOTD some slack here as it’s not like it’s some uniformly straight and flat directly East-West interstate highway.

Development is questionable.

Dear heyPaul,
No. We're not going to do that.

That seems a little dramatic when all he's asking for is reflectors, speed limit signs, and some lights here and there.
"Elevation and challenging curves"? Good Lord.

Those kinds of safety projects (striping, reflectors) are low cost but also don't really last. I feel like I see them putting new ones out every 3-4 years and they get popped right back up by big rigs.
Also the $770 million figure sounds high until you remember that it's about $1-2 million per mile of roadway just for paving jobs. There are about 17,000 miles of state owned roadway in Louisiana.

The 770 million number is embarrassing actually and is exactly why I-12 and many other roads are terrible. . 770 million isn't even one plant expansion project and that is the budget to build and maintain every road and bridge in the entire state? lol.

F that - if they do anything on I-12 its to make it 3 lanes each way the enter length.

We were driving over the new bridge last night in the rain. Same situation. No reflectors on the lanes and all the street lights from the bridge to the split were out. I could barely tell if I was in the lane most of the time.

I 100% read that as him being completely serious.

Baton Rouge doesn’t believe in street lighting, highway markers, or striping.
Everyone knows that.

I’d argue the bigger need for I-12 is eliminating the cloverleaf interchanges, particularly at Airline and at I-55.
The hours of life wasted in traffic caused by cars merging at 35 mph with cars doing 70 mph and giving them 50 yards to figure it out are beyond comprehension.

While you're at it, fix Airline Hwy from Sherwood to Highland. My vehicle's suspension will thank you.

I’m not taking the time to fact check but in my experience those AI search “tools” always get info or stats wrong.
Especially sports stats

sounds like the I10/I110 South merge by the MRB.
This state is such a dump when it comes to roads and highways.
