I’m just expressing my opinion that the #7 tradition is now over with. It’s been completely changed into something else entirely. Th point of this website is to express opinions on LSU football, right? Or am I in the wrong place?

The old 7 tradition was over when Jonathan Giles sported the number 7 thanks to Ed.

This is the new 7 tradition. Get over it

I really don’t care about the number assignments since #7 tradition has been tarnished lately. However, it really should be #18 goes to the player from Louisiana that is a team leader / inspiration and #7 goes to elite athlete / playmaker / most swag.

so OL can’t make plays?

No. They can do their job. Some are better at it than others, but that doesn’t make them playmakers

You don't even know where one of these guys is from.

What does 18 have to do with Louisiana. It started with Mauck, a guy from Indiana.

I see Denbrook sneaking Heard in at Left tackle and sliding Will Campbell into the slot and then hit Campbell with the quick screen. Going to look like the movie Speed with Will trucking everybody down the field.

Whenever Campbell shuts down Verse and changes the game…sounds like a PLAYMAKER

tyrann was arguably the greatest playmaker to ever wear the purple and gold. An O-linemen protects the quarterback and creates running lanes so skill players can make plays. Jesus. Do you idiots know anything about the game?

Captain Crabby has a point. There is no way that an O lineman who keeps the QB's jersey clean game after game can be considered as "making plays". The play maker here is the QB.

No way that the same O lineman who is a total road grader and specializes in pancaking opponents so that the RB's can rack up good gains should ever be thought of as "making plays". The play maker here is the RB.
O lineman are supporting characters, not deserving of mention. Let's highlight just the STARS.

Your opinion is a little flawed. The #7 was not defined as the best playmaker. In no universe would Grant Delpit be a bigger playmaker that Joe Burrow, JaMarr Chase, or Justin Jefferson. On no planet is Giles a bigger playmaker than Devin White. The list can go bigger if you researched.

Kelly is changing shite, so deal with it. He is defining it with a Louisiana twist that may actually be a recruiting tool one day. He is is also re-defining 18 in the leadership role. Embrace the change my man.

The #7 jersey is for the best playmaker on the team. Whether that be offense or defense. Therefore; An O linemen, by default, cannot be #7. Also, it has nothing to do with being from Louisiana. It just so happens that we had the PP7, TM7, LF7 stretch but a playmaker is a playmaker and it shouldn’t matter what state they are from. The #7 tradition is now deceased. May she rest in eternal glory. Amen

Love BK. Love Campbell. But agree with this 100%. This is a significant shift in what #7 has been about and I find it a little disrespectful. He’s the HC. It’s his team but not every tradition is his to tinker with.

Again, it doesn’t make me like or support him any less. It’s just one of those decisions that could blow up in his face from a morale standpoint and it’s a 100% unforced error.
