I guess the purity is gone. The college game will no longer be about the school but all about the revenue. Time will tell if this model is sustainable.

I just want to know how the NCAA can limit someone to a certain numbers of years of eligibility.

Yes this has been known. They can do it as many times as they want.

That’s why signing day means nothing anymore. As soon as you sign and even enroll you can get a better offer and leave

I don't know how these coaches do it anymore. I couldn't imagine having to recruit an entire roster every single season.

This is dumb...like really dumb. But, when you open Pandora's box this is what you get. RIP college sports.

We already know that in person events are slowing. Wonder if this will have an affect on TV viewing as well.

If we are going to treat college like this with NIL then they should be signing contracts that keep them at the school until they are released from their contracts.

If you’re transferring that many times you aren’t asking for a bunch of money. My son’ll commit to coaches…what happens if they get fired after a year? Following your guy seems normal…it happening twice is shite luck though. People find the outliers and complain…but really, I don’t see the problem.

It used to be rough…say you’re good enough for an SEC scholarship, sitting out a year is terrible, as is playing in a dumpy conference.

Time for the SEC, BIG10 and ACC to abandon the NCAA and impose some reasonable regulation on NIL and transfers.

So McMahon finally gets to play on an even playing field?

Try to explain to me how these regulations would look you think.

Had this exact conversation the other day with someone who made the "well the coaches can leave whenever they want so the kids should to" argument. Coaches cannot "just leave" whenever they want to. If as a student athlete you sign a deal with a certain school or NIL booster, they should have to pay to buyout their contracts just Like Bama had to pay Washington for CKD's contract.

Wanna transfer? Your new school has to pay your buyout or you can foot the bill yourself. I wonder how many schools would be willing transfer destinations for kids if they had to pay a six figure buyout just to have the right to sign a new NIL deal with a 3rd receiver.

Wanna be treated like grown ups/employees? Fine. But you take the hard pills to swallow along with the easy ones.

The horse has left the barn. No way they can regulate it now. All this stuff has always been a way for corporate to drive a wedge between the players and universities so they can gain total control of the sport. It’s over buddy

I'm already souring on college sports. Won't be long before I don't care any more just like the athletes. The term student athlete is a joke now. I wouldn't mind them setting up something for the athletes for after they graduate. It is a billion dollar business and the coaches and the universities profit at the physical detriment of the athlete sometimes but the way it is now is not beneficial to the long term stability of college athletics. Why watch that when the pros aren't any different. Except a pro can't just walk out and leave if they are under a contract. So much is wrong with how this is currently set up.
