If you are an interdisciplinary studies major, which used to be called general studies when I was in school, please someone define for me what is a wrong course?

A course that does not apply to your degree requirements. An interdisciplinary studies degree requires three minors. Let’s say a student is minoring in English (I know it is farcical to imagine Emery minoring in English, but this is a general example so bear with me). To get a minor in English, a student has to pass ENGL 1001, 2000, then 2 more 2000 level classes to go along with 2 each at the 3000 and 4000 levels. So if this student had already passed ENGL 2000, 2001, and 2004, then ENGL 2008 would be a “wrong course” since it wouldn’t count toward their degree requirements. If this is true, I’m guessing JE took too many easy 1000/2000 level courses and couldn’t get credit from any additional ones. I’m not sure I believe it, though.

Agree, I cannot imagine he was taking rocket science so how in the world could he learn the play book. Maybe that is why he has failed to meet the hype.

He will be at Georgia soon...

You have to either just not care or actually try to flunk a college course as D1 athlete.

Every registration I was a part of saw pretty much all student athletes basically get placed in every cupcake class in every department snd then the plebes fill in the empty seats.

Per source: John Emery's status has nothing to do w/ registering for a wrong class. The university applied for a waiver to get him reinstated and that waiver was denied by the @NCAA . Emery's family is “pursuing all options to reinstate his eligibility” for this season.

Sounds like he was attempting to improve academic standing over summer intersession but failed to acquire the necessary grades in the eyes of the NCAA. LSU applied for a waiver considering he most likely was making academic improvements but the NCAA denied him because his GPA was not high enough following academic probation. This would make sense considering the timelines and filling prior to the UCLA game. Emery is still with the team just not academically eligible to play.

Par for the course this year.

Might be worse if it’s cheating and we couldn’t fix this issue with money.

Last year it’d be one thing but you literally have QB’s making 6 figures, starring in commercials, and sponsored by Canes. So what’s the damn point of being a stickler anymore for grades.

I agree. Definitely has fault for being in the GPA situation but definitely someone needs to be held accountable when it comes to scheduling classes.

We can't get this regime out of here soon enough...time to get some competence in football offices instead of the buffoonery of the Miles and Orgeron era.

Just be a little patient. (I'm not at All)

It's going to happen sooner than later; with the next big loss.

CMU? Doubtful.

Most likely MSU in Indian Word Trailer Park (Starkville) or Auburn with Finley starting at QB for spite in Obnoxious Intolerable PIMger Stadium.

It can't happen soon enough for Alums, TAF's, Power Brokers and LSU fans with high expectations/standards.

We all be ready to sing the Quint "Farewell and Adieu" jingle from Jaws.

And exactly who is going to take over?
Unless they hire a legit championship caliber coach then it’s shortsighted at best, negligent at worst, to hire another coach who will likely not do much better than coach o.

Frankly, in this modern day, unless you’re getting us in the playoffs every year, it’s little more than sports masturbation- a distraction from every day life.
9-10 wins is nice but Miles could do that!

We have the underpinnings of a championship caliber program, we just need the coaches. I’d rather be patient and wait for the right guys

lulz. You don't think we can do better than literally the worst hire on paper we've ever made in the history of our football program.

O is pretty rough but he still managed to stay out of the way and not frick up 2019. Curley Hallman was one of the worst hires in P5 history. I’ve never seen a head coach worse than him.

This is the most logical explanation and no one with the school will be allowed to talk about any specifics because of student privacy rules. Emery and his family can’t say anything on their own behalf right now because of their lawsuit.

O should have intervened sooner and kept tabs on this situation, or had someone competent doing it, but the buck still stops higher than him. This goes back to Woodward. He has control of how our teams interact with academic affairs. He and his staff should have this all set up to the level that coaches aren’t having to worry about player eligibility on a day to day basis. Ultimately, he needs to fix this and make sure it never happens again for whoever comes next.

Not what I said. We can do “better” but what’s the point of just “doing better”?

We don’t want to go through a series of hires before we find the right guy. That’s a good way to destroy a program. We want to be patient and hire someone who is going to be around for decades while bringing in championships.
