Got it. I was missing the point about all 4 teams playing each other in a pod vs everyone having their own unique 3 opponents in the 3-6. 3-6 makes the most sense.

If you think Bama is gonna agree to Auburn, Tennessee & LSU and lose their great rivalry with Miss St or Vandy, I have got a ski resort near Alexandria I want to sell you.

LSU, A&M, State, Ole Miss
Texas, OU, Arkansas, Mizzou
Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
Florida, Georgia, USCe, Kentucky

3/6 would keep at least one traditional rivalry intact and then you could play in every stadium in a four year span. That’s what I want to get back to. I don’t want it taking 13 years to play in Athens.

A 3/6 schedule would make us play every school in the SEC at least once every 4 years.

We would play every team once every other year the way they are setting it up

Low never said that and it’s going to be 3-6 not pods

That’s a best case scenario for the tigers. LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama and Georgia will all dominate their pods and fight it out among each other with regularity.

Oh yea you’re right. I got mixed up. We will visit every SEC stadium every 4 years.

Permanent SEC opponents are retarded. I prefer to see different schools more often.

With three permanent and six rotating, you play every team every 2 years and every stadium every 4.

The only difference between pods and 3 permanent is that pods will make somewhat even scheduling as the pod is round robin and a 3 permanent is not

What do you mean by the pods being round robin?

The suggestions I’ve heard around pods have been something like:
- Pod A plays pods B & C
- Pod B plays pods A & D
- Pod C plays pods A & D
- Pod D plays pods B & C
… then rotating the next year. But it’s not a round robin because while two pods might share the same rotating opponents in a given year, they don’t play each other. It only really helps for tiebreakers within the same pod.

The downside is that it makes it way harder to satisfy the traditional rivalries compared to individual permanent opponents, which I suspect is a huge factor in why the league is (reportedly) leaning that way.

1. SEC decisions are generally made by reps of UGA, Bama, and Tennessee (SEC Overlords). UTN-Ala and AU-UGA will play every year because that's what the SEC Overlords want. But they would never put those 4 teams in a pod together. So...no pods.

2. If the SEC stays at 16 teams, it won't be pods we use. It will be the 3 perms-6 rotation. Top 2 teams by SEC record will play in the SECCG. The biggest problem with this is scheduling the perms. The SEC does not break evenly into contenders and pretenders like some folks say.

I meant that teams within a pod play each other round robin style. Pod A always plays the other 3 teams in pod A.

The sec doesn’t owe A&M a damn thing. The conference will do what is best for the conference if that means these two playing in the same pod then so be it. If Aggie doesn’t like it they can pack their bags and go.
