I really don’t think they’ll group Tx with 8&4

Its going to be OU, Texas, Arkansas and Mizzou in a pod. Everyone from the Texas and OU camp have said that.

Isn’t this essentially what you’re getting with the pods?

I can’t imagine we get a pod that easy. We’d compete for championships more often, that’s for sure.

It has been repeatedly reported by everyone involved that Pods have been ruled out.

You’re most likely going to a 9 sec game schedule.

3 permanent opponents and 6 rotating.

Wait, how is this any different than 4 team pods where you have 3 permanent opp each year?

With the 3-6 format being suggested you have 3 permanent opp. each year you play every single SEC school every two years…

I think a lot of people feel this way. The SEC wants to have their cake and eat it too. They want the mega conference and 9 games and all the money that comes with it but they also want to hold on to their rivalries as well. The rivalries create a significant disadvantage for some teams while giving other teams an easier road.

There's just no way to have a fair and balanced conference with three rivalry games. The SEC is determined to force this LSU vs A&M rivalry so LSU could have bama, Florida, and A&M every year.

Pods just make too much sense to actually happen. Geography isn't going to be a factor. Money will be the only consideration.

The suggestions I’ve heard around pods have been something like:

What don't yall understand?

The SEC already decided they were not doing pods and 3-6 is not the same as pods

The 3 + 6 schedule has you playing everyone home and away every 4 years.

Is that not often enough?

You are going to see the teams from the east twice as much as before

But will play Auburn and State or Florida every other year instead of every year

Agree about Missouri. How much better would it be to have Florida State instead of them? Clemson?

Yes, anyone who actually wants to avoid playing Auburn, Bama and Florida every year is crazy. Those are all better than a bowl game against, Iowa or Wisconsin or whatever. Hell, bring on Texas and OU every year too. Way more exciting

Whatever gets LSU playing different teams more frequently. Bored with Florida.

Blame Bobby Bowden who was too chickenshit to join the SEC in 1991 or so.

Nick has always wanted a 9 game schedule as long as
he gets to play Vandy and Missouri as 2 of the 9.

Rivalries and traditions that have been going on for generations.
it's one of the big things that makes college football great.

I say keep the divisions, which would preserve most decades-old rivalries, and go to a 10 game SEC schedule. 7 in-division and 3 out of division.

I am only ok with this 3-6-3 model if the 3 non-conference games are controlled as well. 1 game must be against a power 5 conference team. You're not playing 3 cupcakes. It's irritating and no one wants to watch that.
I'm ok with playing 2 cupcakes, sort of. 1 as a basically a preseason game, and 1 more as sort of a bye mid to late season.

What i would rather see is a 10 game SEC schedule, 1 preseason cupcake, 1 power 5 school, two bye weeks.

I don't know how this 3 game permanent thing will work.
I think every team pretty much has two major rivals, some 3, some 1, but most have 2 that are a must. Someone is going to get screwed with it, and it won't be Alabama.

Texas wants Oklahoma and I'd bet they would rather renew their old southwest rivalry with Arkansas over A&M, and A&M doesn't want to play them either. Same with Oklahoma playing Texas/Arkansas.
A&M wants LSU
LSU wants A&M and Ole Piss
Bama wants Auburn and Tenn
Auburn wants Bama and UGA
UGA wants Auburn and UF
UF wants UGA and Tenn
Tenn wants Bama and UF
Ole Piss wants MSU and LSU
Arkansas would probably rather Texas/OU than LSU
No one gives a shite what MSU, Mizzou, Vandy, Kentucky or SC want.

The SEC considered 1 permanent and 3 permanents. I wonder why they didn't consider 2 permanents.

After all, the schools that have always clamored for permanent cross division rivalries did so because they had 2 big rivalries. No school has more than two. All schools have more schools that they want to play, but as far as hated rivals, you pretty much have:

Bama - Auburn, Tenn
Auburn - Bama, UGA
Florida - UGA
UGA - Auburn, Florida
MSU - Ole Miss
Ole Miss - MSU
UT - Bama
Texas - aTm, OU
aTM - Texas
OU - Texas

You could talk about other rivalries and big games, but I think these are the ones teams would really fight for. Are we going to 3 permanents just so Auburn, Bama, UGA, and Texas can add a permanent cupcake since they have 2 bigger rivalries?

I highly doubt that will be what LSU ends up with, but, if you look at the bigger picture, if you get 3 tough permanent opponents, that means that your rotating opponents will be easier--if LSU ended up with Bama, A&M, and Florida as their 3, the 6 would include a lot of Vandy, Missouri, and South Carolina. With the 3/6 set up, if they rotate the six every year (meaning you don't play the same six back to back years), you're going to see the entire league over a 2 year stretch. There's really no place to hide, and having 3 tough permanent opponents, as compared to 2 tough and one easy, doesn't really make much difference.
