This looks pretty reasonable to me. Part of me wants to put Faulk ahead of Fournette just because of the career numbers, and a little bit of bias based his NFL career.
I LOVE what CEH did this year, but you really can’t put him ahead of those other guys when you look at the career production. I mean shite, Guice is #5 on our all-time rushing list and he spent two years competing with Fournette (#4) for carries.
An interesting question to me is.. how would those other guys have performed in this offense? After watching the way New England used Faulk all those years, I feel like he would have been unbelievable on this team.

Clyde was the man at RB during LSUs greatest season ever and he will be remembered as such. His ankle breakages and trucksticks will be seen forever every time it is immortalized on film. The seasons highlights will be seen a lot for a lot of years so you can bet any other RB in the conversation is envious.

It's very difficult to rank Clyde All-time because he's a very different player in a very different offense than the power runners in I-formation we historically have seen at LSU. For context, I went back and looked at the school leaders in all-purpose yards (rushing and receiving). Among the players with at least 200 carries (i.e. RBs), he does extremely well, but that system doesn't translate well for traditional backs (See: Kevin Faulk, #13, Dalton Hilliard, #16). However, I do think it demonstrates just how dominant Fournette, Guice, and Hill were in the running game, and cements them as some of the best to ever suit up at the position. Anyway, have a look if you like stats. And be warned, #4 will surprise you.
1. Leonard Fournette ('14-'16) - 657 touches, 4356 yards, 6.6 yards per touch, 41 TDs
2. Derrius Guice ('15-'17) - 503 touches, 3324 yards, 6.6 yards per touch, 32 TDs
3. Jeremy Hill ('12-'13) - 371 touches, 2410 yards, 6.5 yards per touch, 28 TDs
4. Terrence Magee ('11-'14) - 250 touches, 1157 yards, 6.2 yards per touch, 12 TDs
5. Jerry Stovall ('60-'62) - 247 touches, 1533 yards, 6.2 yards per touch, 5 TDs
6. Clyde Edwards-Helaire ('17-'19) - 439 touches, 2698 yards, 6.1 yards per touch, 24 TDs
7. Billy Cannon ('57-'59) - 390 touches, 2389 yards, 6.1 yards per touch, 21 TDs
8. Keiland Williams ('06-'09) - 327 touches, 1972 yards, 6.0 yards per touch, 19 TDs
9. Alfred Blue ('10-'14) - 225 touches 1358 yards, 6.0 yards per touch, 11 TDs
10. Darrel Williams ('14-'17) - 359 touches, 2113 yards, 5.9 yards per touch, 19 TDs
11. Joseph Addai ('01-'05) - 556 touches, 3217 yards, 5.8 yards per touch, 24 TDs
12. Michael Ford ('10-'12) - 251 touches, 1461 yards, 5.8 yards per touch, 14 TDs
13. Kevin Faulk ('95-'98) - 909 touches, 5157 yards, 5.7 yards per touch, 50 TDs
14. Charles Scott ('06-"09) - 455 touches, 2577 yards, 5.7 yards per touch, 35 TDs
15. Jacob Hester ('04-"07) - 426 touches, 2239 yards, 5.3 yard per touch, 24 TDs

Hester has some pretty damn big moments a lot of times by sheer will. He was/is a true Tiger

You can’t go by that. In this offense Faulk would have eaten mthrfkers alive and shite them out still breathing

I agree that this list reeks of recency because of the evolution of the RB position. This was mostly just a discussion point and some numbers to back up the fact that Clyde certainly belongs in the discussion for a top 5 RB at LSU, even if he would ultimately fall outside that category.

His best attribute was showing up in the biggest games

#1 or #2 for 1 season in terms of productivity as a receiver, blocker, and runner. Faulk is probably #1.
Top 5 career/overall (at least that I have seen play):
Kevin Faulk
Charles Alexander
Dalton Hilliard
Leonard Fournette
Harvey Williams (I got no one else off top of my head)

For a single season stats back him up.
Tied for 5th in rushing TDs
3rd in rushing yards

Talent/production/stat wise we have had better.
Importance to a season? Only Hester would even be in the same conversation IMO.
Justin Vincent stepping up when Addai got hurt was huge too back in 2003.
This magical season probably does not happen without Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

How is Harvey not on this list?

CEH played 15 games.
During Faulk's era, it was 11 games season.

If I’m 85 and Clyde is 70 and I see him out I’ll pay for his meal and tell him what that game meant to me as a fan.

He will always be remembered for the UF gamme
Outside of that he might barely crack the top 10 backs since 2000

He did have the benefit of playing in 2 more games than these guys though

Same, honestly he would be my first pick if the game was on the line. hill, faulk, hester, fornette, come after in that order for me.

So many lament the loss of Etienne to Clemson but interestingly while both were only 3 star guys, CEH was rated a tad bit higher and I'd be a surprised if his early acceptance to LSU didn't scare Etienne off to Clemson.
Of the two, Etienne got a lot more offers.
Both teams got great Louisiana backs but we got the natty

I think he’s easily had one of the top 2 or 3 seasons for an LSU RB.
Clyde had a great year and I agree he cemented himself as an LSU legend by helping carry us to that Bama win. But y’all need to remember we were RBU before we were DBU. His role this year was vital. It was among the most important/valuable ever because he contributed to a championship and we may not have done it without him but in terms of pure production by an LSU running back it’s not even to 10.
