re: Bama Benefits From Corruption Again Even More than Notre Dame
Posted by DrD on 12/7/25 at 12:15 pm to littleavery1948
Only thing that really made sense was leaving Notre Dame out in favor of Miami - who beat ND head-to-head even though it was very early in the season. I got no problem w Bama getting in. They played a hell of a schedule! Texas and Vandy are both better than Tulane and James Madison. SEC was LOADED w great teams in 2025! LSU found out the hard way and lost to 5 of them! Props to the SEC! Half of the playoff field should have been SEC teams.
Props to Kiffin for being the better man

Ole Miss said not NO but hell NO to him coaching in playoffs. Tulane is apparently ok w allowing their coach to continue coaching in playoffs even though similar situations. Kiffin is even allowing his offensive coordinator to continue coaching Ole Miss in playoffs. Props to him..... Oh yeah - keep hauling in those #1 recruits while you're at it. Geaux Tigers!

If LSU thinks BAKER is the BEST option then show him the money!
Posted by DrD on 12/5/25 at 9:39 am
LSU should be able to compete w mid-major programs on the $$$$$$$. It's probably more of a decision by Baker if he wants to be a head coach. He definitely had some stud players to work with in 2025 and over all the defense performed well. He still needs help w QB's that can run and the Tiger defense seemed to give up 1-2 chunk plays EVERY game! I guess you live with that outcome over the course of 50 plays w aggressive play calling. DEFENSE was always playing lights out mainly b/c the OFFENSE was so unproductive. Here's to hoping Baker returns.

why not with Lane as the coach? College Football is the Wild West of sports. $10MM contracts for coaches, $MM contracts for players, etc. Have him start recruiting right away for LSU. Maybe drag a few players w him along the way - especially QB! Could be a 1st in college football. LSU does like to set the standard.....

Best 4th qtr all season
Posted by DrD on 11/19/25 at 8:20 am
Tigers racked up some serious yardage in 4th qtr to get a hard-earned victory over Arky: 154 yards and 21 plays. Ran the ball 10 straight times to close it out (3 of them were in victory formation). MVB was money/clutch!
Pass over the middle to Brown on 3rd and long and the QB scramble were impressive. You can say all you want about Arkansas not being good defensively but you can also claim LSU was VERY good offensively in 4th qtr. Play calling on the TD drive was outstanding. Where has that been all season? Looking forward to seeing the team compete at a high level rest of the season and bowl game. The sky is not falling...... Geaux Tigers!

re: I know it's old news, but did BK think he had more time?
Posted by DrD on 11/18/25 at 7:08 pm to Giantkiller
He was pretty much damned if he did and damned if he didn't. At some point MVP ..... I mean MVB was destined to get his shot at playing time. Kelly would have looked like a dumbass by not playing him all along. He probably didn't want to hang around and get beat up by the media again - seeing as he was already sensitive about the Tigers issues w offensive line and play calling and QB play NOT to mention the horrendous FAIL w defending a running QB all season. He was just beyond HOPE and pretty much ready for a long VAC. Maybe we can hire him back for 1 season - WINNER take all. LSU wins BIG and he gets to keep his job. Otherwise ZERO payout. That's the way this should be going down negotiating for LSU. :spank:
Our DEFENSE forced Vandy to punt TWICE in 4th qtr. Our OFFENSE did nothing with those precious possessions. We had our chances. At least that's what I saw watching the game. Any kind of offense and we win that game. Similar to Alabama and Ole Miss. Very frustrating after watching the way we moved the ball in 4th qtr against Arkansas. Play calling was AWESOME btw. Geaux Tigers!

True or False: LSU could have beaten Miss, Vandy, and Ala w MVB as QB
Posted by DrD on 11/16/25 at 5:00 pm
Hindsight is what it is but man just a change in QB's at any point earlier in the season could have been a MAJOR improvement in LSU's record. We had chances to beat Ole Miss, Ala, and Vandy w the way our defense played in those games - especially in 4th qtr. Offensively we were anemic mainly b/c Nuss was ineffective (i.e. hurt). The long run by Van Buren in 4th qtr on Sat. against Ark. was proof enough for me. He also made some accurate throws far down the field and he also helped open up the running game. Those 2 things were missing all season. Offensive line was pushing Arky defensive line down the field BIG time on that last drive. Kelly should have made the move but didn't. Cost him his job and legacy. Sad.

Anyone out there ever gone thru a "change in regime" - at any level
Posted by DrD on 11/7/25 at 4:56 pm
I went thru it my senior year (not during the season) in HS and it was definitely different - sort of refreshing but at the same time emotionally challenging. OUR coach had been there for a couple of decades. Anyway ...... not sure how our Tigers are going to respond.... Our SENIOR laden HS team (ENSMIMGER was a big part of that) picked up the slack and tried to lead by example. We were in the hunt for a district championship right up until the final week of the season. We caught a bit of the flu that last week in bball season but other than that I think we did quite well. NO REGRETS! That was 50 years ago. Still remember it like yesterday. Here's to a TEAM effort on Sat. night against the mighty Crimson Tide! Geaux Tigers! :geauxtigers:  :geauxtigers:
Offensive line 2024 vs 2025 - from passing team to running team
Posted by DrD on 11/3/25 at 7:49 am
Tigers could NOT run very well last season but they sure could pass the football. Having all those veteran (and now professional) guys on the front line was much better than above average - similar to AtM in 2025.
This year is a work-in-progress w all the new guys and transfers. Kelly knew going into the season this was going to be his achilles heel especially w a non-running QB. It cost him his job by not changing out QB's or philosophy when it was apparent that pass blocking was not happening. We should be running the football. Having a running QB would help. Otherwise - we won't beat Ala. or Ok. or Ark. Nuss can contribute if he's healthy but at this point I'm changing my entire offensive philosophy. We still have speedsters that can get behind the defense when needed. RUN THE FOOTBALL! Let it happen.

How About a WIN on Saturday!
Posted by DrD on 10/23/25 at 7:03 pm
Al Davis said it best "Just WIN Baby." Well our Tigers have missed out on the "W" party twice already this season. I for one am cautiously optimistic about the Tigers finally putting it all together and playing a "complimentary" game as Kelly likes to call it. I'm all for it!
Both "L"'s have been heartbreaking to say the least. There were chances in both games against 2 very, very good SEC teams. We'll see another one Sat. night I'm sure. However, LSU gets their act together and plays solid in all phases and I feel good about our chances. Trying to keep the ship from sinking..... Let it happen.....

I disagree about Hilton. With our stingy defense a bomb for TD at any point in time could be difference maker in close game. Davis at right tackle is a work in progress. He made some nice blocks late in game. Maybe he can build on that moving forward. Red zone offense near goal line needs some much needed creativity. Get a mobile QB or have Jujuan Johnson in wildcat. Got to score TD's in RED zone to win BIG time games. The offense gets their act together moving forward Tigers are going to be fun to watch in all phases of the game. Let it happen! Just WIN Baby!

Should Weeks have been hit w targeting call again late in game?
Posted by DrD on 10/13/25 at 8:06 am
Game was essentially over but it seemed to me that targeting could have been called on Whit Weeks again late in game against S. Carolina. The commentators mentioned that Sellers took a "hit to the head" on the play. Glad we were playing at home..... Love the enthusiasm and effort but that was very close..... Anyone else think that we got away w one?
The other baffling call was the apparent infraction by S. Carolina on fake punt. Seemed to me that the ref stepped out of the way and the play should have been allowed to stand. I understand there was substitution going on and LSU was allowed to substitute but the ref clearly moved out of the way so play could continue. Beamer was arguing w refs after and was pretty pissed about it.
LSU was clearly the better team but those were 2 plays that went our way thankfully. Weeks aggressive play is AWESOME but he needs to clean up those hits w his helmet or he's going to get canned again.

And any prosecutor could destroy your theory of this being error. It may sound like a large distance when looking at it. But for a car traveling 30-50 mph it’s still only 1.5-3 second difference. You get a car flying at you at that short of a distance and see how you react.
---
Who are you referring to on the "reaction" - the gold truck driver or the driver that turned into oncoming traffic? I can only assume the gold truck driver. He simply slowed down and reacted accordingly.
The driver that turned into oncoming traffic was the one "flying at you" based on evidence. Going too fast (speeding), following too close, not paying attention, etc. Turning into oncoming traffic should be a felony in this case. That was horrible driving any way you want to slice it up.

From what I gathered, Lacy was speeding in and out of traffic on a two lane road going south. Him doing this made a driver (gold truck) in the northbound lane slam on his brakes. The person behind the gold truck swerving into the southbound lane to avoid running into the back of the truck and that’s how the collision happened. Am I off base?
---
"Slam on brakes." I didn't hear any brakes.
"The person behind the gold truck swerving into southbound lane". I don't think she was swerving. She intently turned her vehicle in southbound lane b/c she was not paying attention to her surroundings. That's what I think.
Kyren Lacy was definitely driving recklessly for passing in a no passing zone and speeding. He didn't kill anyone but himself. RIP

For the people still acting like Lacy didn’t cause the crash, how do you explain the fact that all of the witnesses on the scene were telling the state trooper right when he got there that a green charger caused all of this?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's b/c he fled the scene of an accident. Of course he's going to look like the bad guy. He wasn't there to defend himself. You even hear some made up b.s. from a witness about the gold truck "slamming on his brakes" when the driver of the gold truck admitted that was not the case.
I can see where the argument could be made that Lacy caused the chain of events that resulted in an accident. However, the facts are that the driver of vehicle behind the gold charger "caused" the fatal accident w her awful decision making. Like I mentioned earlier who veers into oncoming traffic like that? That's beyond me. When faced with a decision to veer into oncoming traffic or rear end car in front of me it's a no brainer.

Gotta love the person "responsible" for the accident - lady driving the car behind the gold truck. Trooper asked "How fast were you going? Her response: "Speed limit." Hummm
It is also convenient to note that there is no actual video of the accident from the north bound perspective. All we see is the green charger speeding and then getting into their lane just before accident/contact.
The lady driving the car behind the gold truck was the culprit in this unfortunate accident that claimed a life. She should have simply hit the gold truck from behind limiting the damage. Why in the world she veered into oncoming traffic is crazy. Who does that? That is asking for potential serious damage to everyone involved. She was clearly speeding (well over speed limit), distracted, and following too closely. She deserves to be punished IMHO. Bad driving.
The LSP can spin it anyway they want. Evidence clearly indicates the driver behind the gold truck caused the accident. Kyren Lacy based on the video evidence was indeed driving fast and illegally passing in a no passing zone. He deserves some blame in this accident but not to the extent that he "caused" the accident. That's what I would come up with if this thing went to trial and I was on a jury. RIP Kyren Lacy.

You can’t have a spy every play. You do that and they’ll take advantage of it. The spy leaves a liability somewhere. Kind of like how rushing three should leave a liability.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXACTLY! 3rd and long is perfect time to "spy" on a running QB. Not once the entire game was Perk in position to do that like he was against Clemson. The last defensive play against Clemson to seal the game was a prime example. I realize the game against Ole Miss is over but this is 1 of the main reasons our defense could not get off the field. We did NOT have that problem against Clemson. Let's not repeat same mistake against South Carolina. Let it happen.

Posted by DrD on 10/6/25 at 7:12 am
Seems like we had a plan for Clemson QB but not Ole Miss QB. Where was Perkins? Hope they go back to the way Perkins was used G1 against Clemson. That worked out pretty well. We are going to need that type of plan for USCe QB. :banghead:
