LINK to press conference
Tidbits:
- LSU/Florida series is nearly even...Florida leads 33-32-3.
- Regarding Anthony Richardson: similar to Hendon Hooker...big, athletic, can run and throw...
- Florida's strength is its offensive line...averaging over 6 yards rushing per carry
- LSU needs to play smarter and cleaner...sloppy play won't cut it in the SEC
- Will Campbell: should be released from hospital today...passed a big medical test and things are looking promising...status for Saturday unknown. Still has another test he needs to pass.
- Garrett Dellinger with second degree MCL sprain...probably out two weeks.
- Perkins: didn't play as much because we was moved to Sam linebacker and would have been out wide due to Tennessee running the spread (would have had to move him back to middle LB to get him on the field more and coaches chose not to do that)...LSU played more nickel, which limited his involvement...he will see much more action against Florida due to the type of offense they run.
- Team wasn't lethargic against Tennessee...they were fired up to play...just didn't execute
- Kelly thought offense moved the ball decently at time but stalled in red zone and on 4th downs...will focus on that this week.
- Walker Howard: has great football knowledge, mentally strong, continues to develop...very confident.
- Regarding 7-man protection for QB: ran some against Tennessee and it was pretty effective, but you are giving up a receiver
- Regarding Tight Ends: still have a ways to go with blocking
- Offensive line will have its 6th different lineup...they really like Bradford inside but not sure where he will end up
- Not concerned about crowd noise at Florida...Kelly thinks it helps the team focus.

He totally sidestepped the question about only having one run play. Even said that they might need to take offensive plays out of the playbook. So don't look for any expanded run plays next week.
Sidenote: Some of these questions are so bad. "how do you think your team will deal with the crowd noise?"

I would love to know the reasons for why we have such slow starts every game. You will be hard pressed to win many games down the stretch if you continue to put yourself in a hole early playing catch up.
Hopefully they defer every single time they win the toss moving forward

He basically said Perkins would have had to learn another position to move him back inside and they didn't feel like that was the thing to do.
He said he would be on the field a lot more this weekend.

Me too. But the media won't ask the question, and if they did he would just say "we have to coach better and players have to execute better"

I'd get worried every time I saw Greg Penn out covering the slot

This shite ain't cool. Perkins is way too much of an athlete to not be on the field.

A bunch bs. What ever position he lines up at he has shown he was the best. He played against MSU a lot in nickel. Another worrisome quote is max protecting with seven. God sounds like Les, do what you comfortable with instead of having a modern offense.

The question has been asked on almost a weekly basis. And he's right, they have to execute better.
Look at this past game. You muff the kick, on your first drive offensively you get to 3rd and 3 and Boutte drops a pass that hit him in his hands. You punt and not only do you outkick your coverage but you had guys leave their lanes. Execution is bad.
