A lot of these players are making more in college than they are in the NFL.
The amateur aspect of college sports is gone. How can you legally tell someone they can’t leave a job in one organization for a better paying job in a completely different organization?
Once NIL and the transfer portal came along the NCAA rulebook went out the window.

From listening to Coach, this is only for this one year of players. It is not a continuing path for others.

Look, laugh if you want but this is all win-win for these coaches. Players are paying attention to this topic too. Do you want to play for a coach who wants to help players?
This comes down to players vs corporate greed. The conference represents greed in this case as they want all the money but don’t want to aid players.

I’m no legal scholar but this seems to put the conferences in a very vicarious legal spot if they basically ban these players. I’d imagine some anti-trust laws were broken and would be found is discovery which triples damages I think. Plus I’m sure judges don’t like their orders being ignored or circumvented.

None of these rules will hold up in law.
Restricting one’s ability to earn a living is against the Constitution especially if said industry has not been collectively bargained or has anti-trust exemption.
If a player wants to get paid playing college football, and a college is willing to pay that player, then that’s what will be. It’s against the Constitution otherwise

Correct, these folks will lose over and over again in court. Just big talk from the ncaa and conferences with nothing behind it.

All the SEC needs to do is make a rule saying from this day on any student athlete that enters a pro draft is ineligible to return to college. That covers the future and allows all the 2022 guys to return. They cant do anything about everything thats already been set in motion, it would be a very expensive route to even try to fight it. Make a rule outlawing in the future and be done with it

The funny thing, is that softball and gymnastics have been utilizing professional players for years, yet there was no outrage.
Something tells me, if Ryan Day or Notre Dame signed one of these players, no one would care and media would collectively say, "don't hate the player, hate the game".

It’s all grandstanding bullshite. If they do this, there is no chance it stands up in court. Especially since these players were already granted eligibility, this is clearly retaliatory and targeted. No judge is going to uphold that.
