This whole "issue" is not an issue at all. It's a one-off mess created by the NCAA's incompetence. If they granted the class of 2022 the same eligibility as they're giving other classes, few to none of these kids would have gone pro. They had no other choice since they were out of eligibility.

Actually not opposed to this IF they simultaneously rule that you cannot play if you 1. have ever signed an NFL contract or declared for the draft, and/or 2. have already exhausted your 5 years of eligibility.
This fixes the NFL issue and fixes the issue of players like Chambliss and Johnson who are ineligible per the 5 for 5 ruling from playing as well.

Sure some may think these men are just doing what's best for their team to win games and boost their own egos. But clearly these 2 men care about helping these young men get a second chance.

You said “They had no other choice since they were out of eligibility.” That does not apply to him. He chose to go pro while he still had eligibility left.

These players left school because they had to leave school. Did the NCAA expect them to just sit there and keep their amateur status on the hopes of winning the suit? They went pro because they weren't given a choice.
If that's the way it is, I'm fine with making these players ineligible. But you either grandfather this rule to take effect starting NEXT season, or you make Chambliss ineligible too.

I think a simple rule would be once you sign a professional contract in a sport like football you are permanently illegible to play that sport in college. How many years eligibility you have shouldn't matter once you sign a pro contract.
He signed a contract and he was cut. I feel bad for him, but there's the CFL, UFL, and semi-pro football where he can play and work on his game.

I'm just curious what they think about all the overseas "pros" that have been playing college basketball for years? They can't pick and choose on this.
They are so shortsighted, and that is why you are having all of these issues in college sports right now.

Unless you didn't know you had eligibility left.
Most of these players probably knew they wouldn't get drafted and would be cut as a free agent. Almost all of them would have come back for their last year had the been given the option in January.

That’s is the problem, many of these players had no choice at the time, had the NCAA dropped this ruling, which they knew they were going to do, many of these players would have come back for their 5th season.
Also had the NCAA dropped the ruling after the season began, this would have been avoided…
The NCAA is just incompetent all around…

Not to defend OM or Chambliss, but he could’ve gone to be a top 3 round pick and he stayed and fought for his case (which I disagree he should be eligible).
These players had this same option to do this over the course of the spring and summer and not 2 weeks before the season starts. This is objectively ridiculous, regardless if LSU is benefitting from it or not.

Yea the big 10 is laughable considering the scandals they have had are actual real legit dirty serious scandals. The lesser dirty one being Michigan with Moore hot dogging it up, the difference when a lesser sec team with a much better coach had a similar situation Arkansas fired him immediately. They didn’t sit on it until he had a losing year and have their AD have to resign because he knew about it.
Of course the big 10 also has Michigan state and Pedo state with much worse scandals than paying a kid or bringing back kids that should have had an extra year.
