re: Ben Simmons says he didn't learn anything at LSU, waste of his time

Because Shaq loves LSU

Simmons may not like the NCAA and didn’t use his time to learn anything at LSU, but he sure benefited from the NCAA’s “dirty system” and his complaint about how his time was wasted on campus is bogus because the cameras following him around along with all the other PR he received was a damn sight better than playing for Turkey or Spain or any other international team. He benefited monetarily by using and gaming the system the NBA has set up to keep from investing millions in a high school student who has a better than a 50/50 chance of failing at the elite level that is the NBA. Simmons displays weak communication skills when complaining about an imperfect system that pays him millions. And guess what? That system ain’t in Australia or Europe, it’s right here in the good old USA. Show some gratitude why don’t you!

With an attitude like that, it is no wonder he was a bust at this level. I had high hopes for his year here, but he was just going through the motions, and apparently not even doing that. What a prima donna.

Ben was the biggest disappointment LSU has seen in quite some time. He had one good game against North Florida, but other than that, he was terrible.
Of course he didn't learn anything under Jones. Nobody did. All those wasted years courtesy of JA. (And BTW, once again, Eddie Nunez found and brought in WW, not Alleva)

Even though he wasn't, I think Chris Jackson was good enough to get drafted as a freshman.

The “one and done” needs to go away. College is too expensive now to be wasting scholarships on a kid who will only be in school for a semester. Give the scholarship to someone who could use it.

Only the money people representing the NBA and the NCAA can make that happens. And that is not happening until people start going to jail for criminal reasons.

He doesn't. He was born and raised in Australia. He could have stayed in Australia and been eligible right out of high school as an international player.
What did he get out of it?
Out of his time at LSU? Not much. I think his time at LSU probably hurt his marketability. I mean, that's his fault for how he behaved, but it's still true.

A couple of years' worth of publicity, that may not have made him the #1 pick, but it did increase his worth in terms of endorsements.
He got years of being talked up as the best player in the country.
He got this from coming to US for high school. Which you're right, he didn't have to do, but I don't think that invalidates his point about the NCAA.
I definitely don't feel bad for the kid, and his whining is part of the reason I'm not fan. I'm mostly just saying that I don't take personal offense to these particular comments as an LSU fan.
I'm sure many people will read his statement and get angry that he would thumb his nose at a chance for a free year of college education, and part of me is tempted to react that way too, but it's clear he didn't want that, and I'm not going to judge him too harshly for that.

But why would you dickride for this guy? He was completely healthy, yet chose not to play in the SEC Tournament. Even during the regular season, he looked like he was just going through the motions (except for the North Florida game).
Also, he was not a very good shooter at LSU. I have no respect for this guy, and I'm not sure why LSU fans admire him, although I'm open minded and will listen to pro-Ben angles.

Honestly if WW was the coach, I think Ben would have hated college even more. Wade demands excellence and effort and would not have allowed Simmonscto be the Diva that he was at LSU.
Simmons would have been held accountable for any and all of his actions and he would have loathed Will Wade for it.
Also, I think WW would have told him to F off with those documentary cameras.

Ironically, He wasted our time too. He was soft as tissue.

He wasted my time watching his spoiled arse

Shaq came back and got a degree. He loves LSU. The other guy is simply a basketball player playing for himself and nobody else.

Kemp never played in college. He rode he bench at a community college and quit. My point is, other guys are in the league today and don’t have this pricks attitude. As mentioned a thousand times, look at the KY players like Davis.
Simmons is a cancer.

Seriously frick Simmons! His shitty attitude is what’s wrong with sports ! This world needs less Ben Simmons in it!

I don’t really care about that. He made a business decision to come to the US and get the exposure. And playing in college gave him an opportunity to play on a national stage.
He would have gotten that anywhere. So I don’t view his statements as being derogatory to LSU, but he CHOSE to be a part of this system he seems to hate so much.

I've backed Simmons a lot on here, but this right here is ridiculous. Kid was fine having a camera crew film his every move but god forbid he has to do a photoshoot.
Ben was fun as hell to watch, but its pretty clear he's a bitch. I don't care how bad Johnny is or how selfish Quarterman was, he didn't deliver. Simple as that.

Who says that they don't learn anything after putting a year into something?
