My prediction as well. Our offense will be back to normal.

I mean obviously he has the capability but he hasn't looked his best the past 2 outings. Before that he looked better than Anderson.

He gave up 2 home runs vs West Virginia at the Box, which is much more hitter-friendly than Charles Schwab, but still got the victory and 7 Ks in 5 innings.

In the last game, the weather delay skewed his numbers. He had a rough start, but looked to be rolling when the delay happened. He did not give up a hit after the first inning, and only 1 batter reached on a HBP after the initial 3 runs scored in the 1st.

One other thing, the last time (the only other time) Eyanson had back-to-back games with an ERA over 2.57(Mizzou and Texas), he followed that up with back-to-back games with 0 earned runs given up, plus 12 and 8 K in those games.(Moo State and Oklahoma).

I have faith in the young man. He will bounce back this game.

I don’t think the concern is necessarily Eyanson. The concern is they have an offense that gets a lot of traffic on the bases and is capable of getting runs in spurts. Our offense has had innings where it looks like they don’t belong in Omaha.

I think the concern is only 1 run against their Flukey with a 3+ ERA and now they’re running out a guy with a 2 ERA. Can Eyanson get some offensive support

Pitchers will tire earlier in the heat and that means bullpen. Low scoring minus a starting pitcher getting shook or some of the usual crazy coincidental circumstance like the 1B Coach stopping the errant throw. Will be interesting to see how Morrison performs under serious stress.

Eyanson is better at controlled, but focused relaxation. More commonly known as the zone or the groove. If Morrison gets tight - game over. Big stage today.

So basically, you're right even if you're wrong.

Yea it would be nice for Frey and Stanfield to end there slumps because it seems like we won that with a few players cold but if everyone gets hot I believe we can beat them by double digits

Morrison is from Michigan, so I’m eager to see if the midday heat bothers him.

Eyanson doesn’t get the respect he deserves from a lot of people because Anderson gets all of the glory.
nah. He doesn't get respect because he's a righty and doesn't throw 100. If he was a lefty, he would be right there in the 1-2 draft spot with Anderson. It is what it is.

A lot of people don't even know that Eyanson is 3rd in the country in strikeouts behind Anderson and Doyle.

I don’t know much about their ace. But it’s hard to believe he’s better than Eyansdon anyway. Still, we can’t just expect a performance like we had last with Kade. We need to hit the ball. It seems like thr coaches tell them don’t swing at the first pitch no matter what. Their pitcher was throwing right down the middle strikes and we had no intention to swing the bat and got behind in the count. Now I guess it’s to run the pitch count up but we have good hitters. Why not let them swing it?

His arm should be pretty fresh. Only 44 pitches in CWS to date?

Good point.

Coastal hitters didn’t look do good against good off speed, which is what Eyanson has. I like our chances.

Their #2 held us to one run.

Their ACE should be better.

So, while I believe that LSU can win, I also realize that it will take a great game by Eyanson (maybe even a second, complete game shut out).

I think it’s more than the pitching matchup. And no, their guy isn’t better than ours, plus having any reliever Jay sees fit is a cherry on top.

When a pitcher closes out a complete game, in a situation like this, it is often a personal milestone. It makes sense from a baseball perspective, too. Anderson had one of his best fastballs of the night in the 9th inning. If a pitcher is at the razor's edge, but doesn't go over, that's special for him, the fans and the game.

However, what it also does is rest every relief pitcher another day. Charlie Wholestaff is available to relieve today.
