It doesn’t say anything about equal funding.
I didn’t say it had anything to do with equal funding, but if they don’t fund WBB proportional to revenue, you can bet it would be a lawsuit ready to happen. Like it or not. WBB has more direct revenue than baseball through TV.

That's the rub though.
There are a ton of Tiger Fans out there and they all have their own preferences and then you have to figure in the Title IX, intangibles of University PR etc.
Then you have people behind the scenes writing big checks for the University in general and the AD and sports. If you piss them off by neglecting their personal favorite, it could have far greater consequences than someone rambling on the Rant.
If Lane can get the football program where we think he can many of the hard choices will go away.

THE college baseball program only gets $500k and other universities are pumping in $3m of the split?
Those universities have the same WBB problem. They just choose to let it whither like it should.
This is nuts.
This is also because LSU Baseball's traditional NIL deals are far stronger. They have also put all 35 roster spots on full-scholarship. And other schools are going to have to spend more to compete with the prestige of LSU Baseball.
I'd imagine as the Mulkey era winds down over the next few years and Baseball continues it's success, you'll see these numbers shift.
An interesting comparison would be Nebraska volleyball. They are revenue positive for the university, but like LSU baseball are very unique in that regard.

That's how it will always be.
I disagree. With NIL, playing at LSU or another major baseball program, is more lucrative than playing in the minors. I think we will continue to see the level of play getting better at the college level which will help bring in viewers.

This can’t be serious, frickkg cut all women’s sports

Take from MBB also…
What kind of idiot takes away from the only other profitable sport besides football to put it towards a sport that loses money, like baseball?
I love Jay Johnson and LSU baseball, but the people who say that are dumb. No school like LSU would do that because they're not as dumb as the people on the rant who say this. The exposure and money you make from MBB means it needs/has to be 2nd behind football in revenue sharing. Maybe a smaller school would do something like that and just go all in on baseball, but I doubt that would even happen.
That said, I'd be completely fine with taking money from women's basketball and putting it towards baseball.

Listened to Jay’s press conference today. He said he hopes that the school and its boosters continue to make baseball a priority. He also mentioned you can either be the LA Dodgers in this era or a smaller market team.
Jay is the highest paid coach in college baseball. I don’t think raising money is currently a problem for the program.

Also, many have already pointed out the irony of that posters username.
For the others, they’re just the baseball only bumpkins that ignore common sense. You and I are both baseball fans, but aren’t ready to lose one million plus per year in profit “just because “.

Bc baseball probably can get more money from boosters. Woman basketball probably don’t receive as much money from boosters. In baseball, money from boosters will make up the difference.
Posted on 1/23/26 at 2:49 pm to Covingtontiger77
I’m not an accountant but does it really make much difference? If you just cut that allocation, you just run at a larger loss.
It’s still the same money in the overall pot.
You’d have to systematically downgrade the team if that’s what you are looking to do. Not worth having a high dollar coach like Kim if she has no budget, so go ahead and let a national championship coach’s contract expire and hire a cheaper one, ditto for all assistants, etc etc.

Crazy thought here, but if it's called revenue share, shouldn't it be based on the total revenue generated by sport and not the profit/loss of the sport? WBB brings in more revenue than BB. There are other avenues for BB players to make money than just rev share.

From what I understand, the issue isn't what women's hoops is getting. It's that baseball is being lumped in with every other sport besides the top 3 and sharing that percentage.

I would love to have a better breakdown of the numbers for womens and mens bball.
It's interesting because the driving force is the ESPN/SEC TV deal.
It definitely isn't ticket sales.
I'd be interested to see the viewership numbers on the mens team v the womens team.
I don't think the men have played on ESPN main once this year. The women have 3 times already.
ChatGPT says that the TX game had about 1.7 mil viewers. Have the men even had one game of 1 mil viewers? You can't really find SECN or ESPNU numbers for a specific game online.
I mean, yeah the men's BBteam made money because ESPN pays for all of the teams in the league and LSU gets their cut. But we ain't pulling our part of the bargain right now at all. No one watches LSU mens games and even our big games are relegated to ESPNU and SECN.
I think it really just shows how our Mens BBall team not being prioritized with NIL and a decent coach is just a huge failed opportunity.
But its really hard to cast disparagement toward the womens team right now when they just won a championship and they outdraw the men almost 2-1.

WBB deserves close to nothing.

I produced numbers to show your claims of viewership were wrong and you ignore them and make more emotional rambling posts.
Are you sure you are not a woman? Because you are acting like one.
You condemn WBB for losing money but to spend more on BB will just have them doing the same. Loses for sports is fine but they need to be offset.
Increasing the $$ available from a strong football program and donors is the way to help all sports and is what Verge is doing. Trying to call for war between programs will not help any program, especially our programs that have actually won a Natty recently.
This all day.^^^^^^
Covingtontiger77 is just another one of our moronic woman-hating trolls that continuously makes non-sensical arguments. Women's sports are at LSU to stay. They will be funded in the way the athletic director and university sees fit, regardless of what some trolls think.

In a real world devoid of fiat script no one gives a hoot about women’s basketball. It is a complete contrivance.
Posted on 1/23/26 at 3:47 pm to Covingtontiger77
The baseball program deserves at least its own 5-7% of the revenue share.
Stopped reading her. Laughable at best

Maybe you should take a look at WBB title game ratings compared to college baseball World Series ratings .
Johnson should be happy he’s at a one of a handful of schools that give a crap about college baseball .
