After watching a few things again, I blame the WRs

Here, Harris squares in this route too tight.... a bit more to the post and it's a completion and LONG gain...
Here, Grace fails to drift a bit to his right away form the defender...

That's also lazy at the top of his route, if he's running out of the break he might catch that.

The route is supposed to be a square in. He is too lazy in the route.

The offensive scheme is good. They are consistently scheming guys open. The execution SHOULD get better as everyone gets more experience playing together in a new system.

Leavitt's footwork is TERRIBLE there. Not only does he panic & rush the throw but he also jumps to make the throw. Stop making excuses for him.

I hear ya, but if Sam just steps up in the pocket and settles his feet he has a completion for a long gain.
The execution on Leavitt's part far out weighs the route by the WR.

he stepped up but didnt slide right. Just one step right would have a wide open throwing lane. No reason to do that jump throw off the front foot

A few days before the game Ruffino said someone compared Leavitt to a squirrel on Adderall and now he can't unsee it. Pretty apt.

That play and letting Ole Miss score the TD right before halftime were the biggest missteps in the game.
If Sam throws a half decent ball, that is a TD. The scheme had cleared the safeties out and he had an easy path to the end zone if the ball was catchable.
He just always looks flustered in the pocket and rushes his throws. Until he can get where the game slows down for him and he has some poise in the pocket, he is going to struggle.
