Jones has never had a top recruiting class you must be able to recruit nationally ! Louisiana alone will not support a competitive basketball team. Stanly Jacobs just doesn't know what he's talking about! He obviously wants Jones. BOS member who said Louisiana has an inordinate amount of bb talent. Not one player in the top 30 !

Also keep in mind that Amaker may have realized he wasn't a serious candidate and tried to save some face.

Read between the lines people ... Dixon and Amaker have basically turned us down. Johnny Jones appears to be the only candidate interested. The job is just not that attractive in its current state.
This is why the coaching search should be kept under wraps until someone is signed. Now we get to hear about everyone who "didn't interview ... wink, wink", which are code words for "Thanks, but no thanks".

This is going to suck so bad.

its gotta be Jones at this point, especially with LSU people leaking what a great interview he had. You'd think such a talented interviewer could have gotten himself a better job by now....
Man, I hope there's some dark horse out there none of us have on our radar

LSU basketball let us all get excited

I don't really think that Alleva is going to hire Jones. He's just making sure that Jones gets looked at to appease Dale "I sold my soul to Lester Earl" Brown & Collis "Slimeball" Temple Jr.
If I'm wrong and Alleva does hire Jones, then we'll know that he has succumbed from the pressure of these two parasites (Brown & Temple)...If Jones is considered the last resort due to lack of interest from others, than Alleva needs to find another last resort.
Also, I would hope that Alleva is throwing enough money around and not going cheap so that we don't have to have a so called last resort.
WE DON'T WANT JOHNNY JONES

Got to spend money on a good coach to make money for the program by attracting more fans.
Joe knows this. I don't think Johnny jones will be the coach. I refuse to believe that.

The anti-Johnny Jones sentiment has gone a bit too far.
LSU basketball needs many things, first among them is talent. TJ love him, hate him or somewhere in between left town with a roster without sufficient talent to get to the NCAA's.
Recruiting is the #1 priority, this years class is in trouble. The singing period started yesterday and many (not all) but many have already signed.
In some ways Recruiting is about working hard. No that does not mean that if Jones or anyone on our short or long list of coaches hit the McDonald's list harder than Coack K or Calipari that all of the sudden LSU would be the garden spot for 5 stars. However working hard, looking all over the planet, beating bushes etc can and will get the best talent possible on our roster.
Johnny is pratically begging for the gig. He is a Tiger. Loves LSU. No one will work harder than he will. If he gets the job he will know that there is less than 100% support for him from the fanbase, and knows he will be on a short leash.
Passion for LSU, it being his dream job, the "want" to succeed as his alma mater, and pressure to win and win soon is sufficient in my eyes to believe that Jones will work hard and be aggressive on the recruiting trail.
I am not suggesting stopping the search and handing him the job, but the vitriol and pessimism toward Johnny is overblown.
If he is the choice he will bust his arse for LSU and I think he will succeed.

he is begging for the job because he's at a shitty program in a shitty conference making shitty money.

Johnny would prolly take a pay cut for the job.

Eddie Nunez is a former college basketball assistant coach and played for Billy Donovan at Florida. The others are helping out with reference checks, compliance issues, etc.
This committee is infinitely better than a traditional one that includes some crusty old BOS member and a faculty member. Also, the committees they hire are a complete waste of money.

Do yall really beleive LSU has not had any contact with Dixon?
The more the LSU camp claims to not have any contact with Dixon at all, the more I think we have a shot.
All these denials coming out in the mainstream media don't mean a thing, IMO. Maybe I'm just holding out hope.

According to every mainstream media report, LSUs camp and Dixon's camp are both denying contact was made and now are denying a meeting took place. Meanwhile the only person Alleva will comment positivily on, is Jones, who everyone and their grandma knows was gonna get an interview. They have basically admitted to nothing which is par for the course.
At the same time, you've got some people around BR stating contact has been made with Dixon and they dont care that it's been disputed, it's happened.
