He brings the energy and it’s something gameday lacks with the other commentators. He knows the game as well but more than anything he’s a hype guy and that’s what college football is about. Hype and pageantry.

It’s entertainment: he’s good at that part

I’ve always liked him for what he is. He seemed a little testy with the LSU crowd from the little I watched today though

He’s grown on me and does add an element of passion and craziness that makes it fun.

I like him. He’s corny and annoying but brings the energy

he's trying to do that to be funny. He's from Pennsylvania - everybody knows he's a midwestern guy.

McAfee is sometimes over the top, but he's very knowledgable and brings personality to GameDay. The other guys are pretty dry.

Idk what parts you watched but he set up Neck chant at least 4 times. He was working the crowd. Predicting LSU wins by 50. I guess that’s testy!

Not sure, either. He's great at pulling the best out of everyone else on that panel, keeps things loose and, therefore, more entertaining

My issue with him is when he lets his shtick run too long. They can be fun when they stay snappy, but they sometimes run literal minutes long and overstay their welcome.

He is somewhat knowledgeable at times, but he said our D was unbelievable last year. Our D was much improved last year for sure, but not close to unbelievable. We were a solid D, but Vandy and aTm destroyed our D.

I think the votes on your post show the reality of him. About 50/50. I now don’t mind the energy as much but he tries too hard to make it interesting sometimes when they are in an actual analysis discussion. It just doesn’t flow well between them all. He was better his first year when they gave him small segments to do his thing.

He’s been talking all week about how excited he was to see Tiger Stadium and the fans. He wasn’t much of a college football fan until the last few years. He’s very honest about the things he’s unsure about.

Not sure, but I bet you there’s a correlation between not liking Pat and always having crust in the corner of your mouth.
