You mean the guy who shot 32% from 3 in the CAA in his 3rd year? Yeah, color me worried if that's our starting SG going into next season.

This boards obsession with the magical number of 40% from 3 is so retarded. There’s nothing wrong with being in the 32-36 range depending on volume. Also believe it or not, it’s possible to be a good college basketball player and not a knock down 3pt guy

We need guys who can shoot and one that can actually start. No I'm not saying the dude needs to be a 40% 3PA, stop putting an argument out there that doesnt exist. I'm talking a guy who is a good scorer and took more volume from 3 a game and shot at a DECENT clip (mid-high 30% is totally fine). If nobody in our starting group is much of a shooter, then, how are we fixing last year's problem at all being a bad shooting team?
We arent fixing that problem by starting a 32% 3rd year CAA 3 point shooter at SG. We arent fixing that problem by having a 6th year player coming in who is a career backup. I just find it odd after landing Dedan Thomas at guard who can be a nice distributor and general scorer himself we seemingly havent figured out we need guys who can shoot the basketball and do it on some volume as a starter. Dedan thomas didnt take many 3s at all last 2 seasons. King was a mediocre shooter in a bad conference on mid volume for a starter. MacKinnon also took less than 3 3's a game as a starter in the WCC last season. Why wasnt this made a priority and why are we talking about grabbing an international player at this point? Just seems like odd roster construction once again, or we just flat out ran out of money, once again.
If we're not going to be a decent shooting team then we have to be elite in some other offensive categories and I'm not sure we will be at this point. Wade's teams often didnt shoot well from 3 but they sure as hell rebounded well on the offensive glass to make up for it.

I guess Tamba is the Euro... Get the backup from Memphis and well...

34% from three is the average in college ball. If I remember correctly the SEC had like six dudes who shot 40% from three on the volume that Carter did. It's very impressive, and a good get (if we close the deal, though it sounds like we already have).

A small forward and a lower BPR than Givens, according to Evan Miya. Hmm… what are we going for here?

I believe the staff wanted to just add one more body to the forward room with Reed, Miller and Sutton. Brune touched on that a little yesterday. Just a depth move

What was Dalton Knecht's BPR before transferring to Tennessee?

I think Tamba wll be a backup, but he started all 32 games at UC Davis last year, and 27.6 mpg. He was also their 2nd leading scorer, but I think he's better at defense, which we need. He looks fairly athletic, so I think it's a solid addition. I wonder if he expects to get starting minutes?

He and the Memphis kid will be fine depth pieces. We have to replace an entire team.
I just hope we can get one more sure starter. I just wouldn't want to go into the season hoping McKinnon or King can be SEC level good.
If we can get a guy who can play AND McKinnon or King over play their off-season ranking that would be pretty gnarly and probably lead to a pretty good season.

Not really when you need good shooters.

Of course but we’re talking about a real need here. McMahon’s system is what it is. You don’t really “get” shots. It’s about penetrating and kicking out. You have shooters that the defense has to account for and bam…you also get spacing.

On Tamba, could be a good depth piece. Doesn’t shoot from outside much.

A bad sign for Tamba is that his possessions doubled from last season to this season, but his BPR went down. He is decent defensively, and this isn't necessarily a bad pickup for someone to slot into scholarship 12 -15.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on the starter.

Carter should be announced before end of the week. I plan to update the portal list and commitments tomorrow. Trying to find more names.
