Chest redshirting was a mutual decision. He was and still is very very raw as a basketball player but you see the motor and intangibles that made him highly touted. I actually think our front court is very good at the moment. Miller, Reed, Sutton and Nwoko is going to be fine in the SEC. Desperately need to give Dedan a running mate who can create a bit

Regardless of the why LSU depended on 5 players with very little experience. Fact,. That made a huge difference especially in this years SEC. Won't be the case this year. Collins hardly played in those 58 games. Fountain played and did nothing and was hurt for a while. The only players with solid playing experience were Cam, Sears, and Bailey and to a certain extent Williams. That's it.You can spin it any way you want. And most of the teams they played didn't even have a freshman in the rotation much less 4. And Collins was a jr in name only.

I’m not disparaging the team. I’m disparaging the perpetual excuse makers…and giving actual evidence to support the response instead of searching for every possible basis to ignore the obvious

There are no excuse makers for this coaching staff on this site. They do not exist. There are people who are looking for reasons to be hopeful and some who try to put the struggles in context. You and your ilk wanted McMahon fired (like most of us) and since he didn’t y’all have decided to throw temper tantrums about it in every thread about basketball like it will change the decision that has already been made. It is clear that if results aren’t much better he is gone so it should be a win/win. Y’all just want to make sure everybody else is as miserable as you are.

Is this clear? The same thing was said last year. Perhaps even more NIL money will be needed next offseason if the results are lackluster yet again

They added the necessary NIL warchest funds to find themselves in the same place they’ve been since McMahon has arrived. Looks to me like NIL narrative was lip service. If they added substantially to NIL, it appears to be at the same rate as everyone else. If the team is garbage again this year, you’d hope they’d move on from McMahon, but who knows. Past 5 years lsu has handled mens basketball exactly the opposite of how I would have wanted them to.

Yes it is extremely clear that is the case from the end of the year messaging.

PJ Carter should be popping for us soon. Been told by one source that “it’s a done deal” and by another that the staff feels good where they stand with him.
Won’t be a flashy pick up but we needed floor spacing and he provides energy on the defensive end.
Brune reported yesterday that we are confirmed still looking for spacing, a high-usage 2/3 (internationally most likely), and possibly a backup PG. Carter would take care of the spacing.

Perhaps you are new.
It's been a CONSTANT flow of excuses ("reasons"): "Dark cloud of investigations"; "best player" ineligible for the first part of the season...then suddenly is no longer the "best player" after he checks out (which is a 3 year trend)...the new "best player", who wasn't the "best player" coming into the season is lost to a season ending injury...then LSU has no NIL money....they were stuck relying on too many freshmen....and on and on.
There's no "tantrum" being thrown. Just simply a rebuttal to the same delusion seen each of the last 4 offseasons. Bad or (at best) mediocre season...offseason roster moves lauded by everyone....poor results, with the blame falling on the "bad roster" that was an "exciting roster" just 4-5 months ago.

Carter definitely isnt a starter in this league. They better hit big on another guard/wing. The international talk is extremely disappointing. Those guys rarely work out well in year 1.

I was reading the post before seeing who the author is. From the content and tone, without seeing who the author was, I knew it was alt26. The a'hole looks for opportunities, sometimes creates them, to shyt on the Tiger MBB or more specifically the head coach. The a'hole (that should be your official name, maybe your next alter) is a miserable human being, and I use that phrase in the loosest definition possible. Do you realize that when you die, no one will care?

This is idiotic.
Dji Bailey came from Richmond, PJ Carter is coming from Memphis.
Dji Bailey is a career 27% three point shooter, PJ Carter is a career 41% three point shooter.

I'm not going to back that other guy up as he's a different player than Bailey, but Carter averaged 5 points a game this season as a 5th year player at Memphis.
Not a quality pickup unless he's coming off the bench. Pretty much all Carter did this year for Memphis was shoot a few threes a game off the bench and thats it. He came form UTSA the year prior where he only started 10 out of 31 games as a 4th year player in D1.

I definitely think he would come off the bench, but give me 5.4 points at Memphis with the shooting ability that Carter brings over the 10.2 points and lack of shooting at Richmond that Dji brought last season, and Dji is a guy that played 31 minutes a night for us last season, mind you.
Carter saw an increase in minutes as the season went on at Memphis, finished the season averaging about 17 minutes a night. Took around five threes a game, hitting 40% of them. I think you're underselling that he just came off the bench and hit a few threes. A high volume three point shooter like that is valuable, and immensely valuable on this team given their lack of shooting. I see no reason he can't come here and do that, if not more, and that wouldn't be a reflection of what we have or don't have. I think he's a good enough player to handle (and earn) those minutes.
We still need a bigger pickup to put on side of Thomas, but Carter was a necessary pickup as well.

I mean, that's pretty much exactly what he did at Memphis. Took just over 3 3's a game (hitting them at a good clip) and averaged 5 points a game. He wasnt a distributor, not a rebounder, etc...
Again my concern here is who the heck is starting the 2 for this team? This guy isnt it, and we're talking about looking internationally at this point? Doesnt sound good.

We agree practically 100%, I just don't think this pickup needs to be undersold as it was a very necessary (and good one) as well.
Starter or not, a 6'5 wing that can give you 15-20 minutes a night and shoot it lights out is a positive pickup. I also think his avenues to scoring will be more open here than it was at Memphis where four guys took 77% of the shots. That number for LSU this season was 61% (it's 65% for McMahon's three years here), it was 66% for Florida, 67% for Houston, 66% for Auburn, 65% for Duke, so on and so forth.
The shot distribution for Memphis was incredibly high this season and at LSU you'll see more opportunities for him to get his shot off. Especially with a PG like DJ Thomas, which is another big part of this.

Again, totally fine if this was a backup pickup, I'm not sure it was though. This guy was a pretty minimal producer at UTSA/Memphis as a 4th and 5th year college player. We can stroke a 40% shooter as much as we want but to average 9 points at UTSA and 5 points at Memphis in years 4/5 is not someone I'm ever getting excited about unless again more of a 10-15 minute a game guy here or something.

You mean the guy who shot 32% from 3 in the CAA in his 3rd year? Yeah, color me worried if that's our starting SG going into next season.
There is still a big gaping starting hole on this team as it sits between SG/wing depending which way they go with King/MacKinnon. I think its fine if 1 of them starts, but both, ehhhhhh
