I think you forgot to include the optimism in your post. Tons of caution though…

I'm not sure spiking the ball before he's played a single minute is the right choice. We had several "shooters" on the team last season that couldn't get on the court because they couldn't play defense. I don't know anything about this kid, but we'll see if it translates to the SEC.

I’ll ask yet again:

Since you’re not an LSU basketball fan, why are you here? Do you really have nothing better to do?

See if it translates to the SEC?

He is coming from the Big 12, arguably the best basketball conference right now. He’s not coming from the Sun Belt or some low level conference. You are negative about everything.

Everytime I read one of his posts it makes me think to myself "what would he have said if that was posted about Orgeron?"

People seem to really care about my opinion for some reason. It's simultaneously flattering and sad.

Since apparently I'm not optimistic enough...Abdi Bashir will be the BEST shooter in the SEC next year.

ETA: imagine thinking the Big 12 is not a good enough basketball conference to think a good performer there would do well in the SEC.

Remember the first go round when we stole guys from the blue bloods, already this cycle Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, we just stole guys they thought they were in the lead for.

84 collegiate games played and a career 3pt % of 39.9. But don't get too excited. PK isn't sure he can play in the SEC.

I agree that spiking the ball prematurely is silly.

What? Last year at this time one of the biggest criticism of the transfer class was that it lacked shooters outside of McKinnon.

quote:

that couldn't get on the court because they couldn't play defense

Is this the new narrative? Or could they not get on the floor because LSU had the worst head coach in the SEC determining who played? Because the guys who DID get on the floor couldn't play defense either...which was a recurring theme of the McMahon era.

While I'm not going to say every player LSU signs for next year's roster will be the greatest player ever without actually seeing them play for LSU first, any comparisons to last year...or the last 4 years....are foolish because the last four years have to be viewed through the overall context that LSU had an awful coach.

You can probably be a little more optimistic about this one as compared to others. He’s played 3 seasons, last year he played in the big 12 and averaged just under 25 min a game, and he has consistently shot well from 3.

This looks like a good signing, because we needed some players that could score, and he's a proven scorer playing against good competition. He's 6'7", but only 160. No wonder his defense is poor, according to Evanmiya, which has his DBPR at -0.7, but the first couple of players we signed were known for their defense, so he won't be asked to guard the top scorers. Hopefully his offensive prowess (OBPR of 3.11) outweighs his defensive weakness.
