Why did he transfer to St James? Just curious.
Was not a “choice.” Also why his former coach is no longer at AC.

Congrats to Khai and his family. Love the prayers that have preceded all of these recent commitments.
Kid has good speed, strong hands, and is good after the catch with running back like balance and tackle breaking ability.

Khai Prean 6’0” 190
Body: prototypical “ATH” build. 6’0” 190, really carries weight well. Longer torso, broad shoulders with thick quads. When I look at his body, I see WR, CB, S, or even RB.
Strengths: first thing I search for for skill guys are verified track times. Prean 10.94 100m as a Jr. On tape, his speed flashes, especially again lower level talent at Ascension Catholic. At times he’s running at about 60%, toying with defenders, looking like the LA 1A Ja’marr chase.
Prean lives up to the ATH attribute, lining up at both RB & WR. You can really get a idea of his feet & lower leg flexibility on the jet sweeps, planting on a dime in one clip while at near full speed, and in another, adjusting direction to give up yards so that he could open another running lane. I know WR is the lean, but I do think Prean could be a multi purpose RB in college.
At WR, I am mostly impressed with his in-air adjustments on poor throws, and his run after catch, much like former Tiger Ja’Marr Chase. Their is a clear gap in talent playing at this level, and I look forward to him playing his Sr year in the grimey River parish district.
Weaknesses: it is hard to see weaknesses when there is such a talent gap. So it will be interesting to watching him follow in the shoes of guys like Jarvis Landry & Shazz Preston. There is a clear barometer for him to hit in that area. They know good WRs.
Also, from watching some 7v7, Prean’s biggest hurdle may be as a route runner, showing slight pause coming in & out of breaks. He possesses great body control so this development should come as he adds more nuance to his route running.
Summary: LSU continues to enforce priority 1, recruit the Boot, landing one of the best athletes in the south. Prean’s path looks to be WR, though I am fairly certain he could play CB or RB for LSU. Kelly, historically, loves to move WR to RB and use them in the passing game(Theo riddick, cj prosise Jafar Armstrong) so keep an eye on that.
However, At WR, Prean is a Malik Nabers-type pass catcher. Strong with the ball in the air, good after catch. Sure handed & physical. Inside/outside versatile, but could end up in slot. t lsu elite camp, I see him beat numerous CBs including Jordan Matthews, who he absolutely turns around. Prean will be an exciting playmaker for coach Brian kelly.

I loved what he had to say and, just as important, I loved his emotion after the announcement. I wish him the very best and hope I'm there to see him score his first TD!

Does anyone know if he will be eligible to play at St. James this season?

I just checked out his highlights on YouTube and he makes running look effortless. Makes me wonder if there’s another gear there. Like his YAC ability as well.
