What’s your go to treatment for ant mounds?

I used to be die hard Amdro. Would kill a pile in 2 days or less. Now it doesn’t seem to be doing anything to them. This I have 5 major mounds that I have not been able to kill.

Spectracide granules. Be sure to water in.

Talstar granules (or generic Bifen) sprinkled on mound kills the entire mound. I don't even water it in.

I fill a watering can then add a splash or two of liquid bifen.

Fill a watering can and add the recommended amount of permethrin. Use a stick to poke a hole in the center of the mound as deep as it’ll go. Soak the mound.
ETA: Boiling water will also work as long as the mound isn’t near any desirable vegetation that could be harmed.

Bengal powder always worked for me. Got a bottle this year and it doesn’t do shite. They just make a new mound. Got two bags of Talstar granules. About to kill everything.

boiling water generally gets it done.
if the mounds are in my beds around plants I care about I’ll go with the Bayer powder
this winter if you have a hard freeze forecasted hit the stubborn mounds with a hoe the night before
my dogs can smell the amdro so I don’t use it anymore

I forget what it's called, maybe Orthene. Teaspoon anywhere on a mound or near their travel paths and they are gone.

Shovel one ant pile onto another ant pile. One will be gone at the end of the day. Keep doing this and let the last pile live. They deserve it

quote:This. Works amazingly. Sprinkle a modest amount on the mound and walk away. They are dead or gone within 24 hours. Never regretted buying it.

I put out Ortho fire ant granules on part of my farm this spring. Where I put it out all the mounds are gone. Need to get more for other areas.

Amdro has killed every mound I’ve put it on including giant mounds in the woods in Mississippi. Make sure to follow the instructions well. Unless they are crazy ants?
