Best French Door Refrigerator

It seems like all of the ones I’m looking at has issues.

I'm into year 7 on a Maytag cabinet depth with no issues. It replaced an older French full-depth Door Maytag which had no problems that required a service call.
Stay simple, no computer, no ice in door.
Only issue which I think affects all brands is the door sealing mechanism. The gaskets wear faster than on regular doors, and a small device at the top of fridge that flips the sealer into place becomes less effective over the years. Replacing both are easy DIY fixes.
Unfortunately, there have been so many changes in brand ownership that reliability is hard to judge. If you can shop at local appliance store which has a service dept and a long relationship with distributors/manufacturers.

This, if I could do it again I'd get a single door ice box with a bottom freezer.
With a single door, you can put a subtle rear lean to it that causes the ice box to close itself. Can't do that with a french door because of the pivoting sealer.
Also, the seal is nowhere near as good as a single door. Especially in power outages, a french door doesn't hold in the cold nearly as long as a single door.

Absolutely love the Frigidaire Gallery French door double ice maker model.

I have had both, I couldn't disagree more.

Avoid LG, I now have a GE with not many frills, it has been rock solid.

We have the Bosch with French doors up top and a freezer on bottom. Only issue has been the ice maker in the door sucks. Otherwise it’s been great.

Bought this one about 5 years ago. I didn't want French doors or ice/water in the door. I was replacing an ancient side by side that was in the house when we moved in. It finally died after we'd lived there about a decade, and I wanted something a little roomier without all the things that usually break on modern ones. I was a little hesitant about the bottom drawer freezer, but it is designed well and has multiple bins and a top shelf that slides. I keep smaller items up top next to the ice tray, and larger stuff in the bins.
The Fridge layout is great as well. Tons of room in the door shelves, and loading groceries is much easier than dealing with two doors. Just swing it out wide and the whole width is accessible at once.

We have the Samsung one that you can change the panels out to make it a different color, not sure what model it is but it was expensive
I do like it though. The top left has two depth openings, one if you just want water and it has the water jar that automatically fills up.
The bottom slide freezer has two ice options, one of them being the sonic style ice.
Only downfall is having to explain to visitors how to open your fridge.

Avoid LG
I have several LG products that have been fine. We did just have to replace a french door refrigerator from LG after about 8 years.
Here's why I'll never buy an LG product again. They changed their service cost to a flat fee of $549. If you want it serviced by an LG tech and to keep it in warranty(if you still have a warranty on it, which we did on the compressor), you have to go this route.
The rule is if the tech doesn't do any work, you still have to pay $149 for the visit, but they're supposed to credit the additional $400 back to you. He looked at the fridge and immediately knew that it was leaking freon out of the cooling pipes, which can't be fixed because they're enclosed in foam. This happened in June for us and those motherfrickers still haven't paid my $400 back. I've called and talked to so many people, I can't even keep track of it now. I've been told it's been approved for months now, but every time I call I'm told "we haven't heard anything from the finance dept on when it will get paid back."
It's a scam because they know most people will either forget or just give up. I'm starting to boil with rage just typing this.

Fully prepared for it to break.

Got a GE this week, the one with a middle drawer and the pitcher filler water thing on the inside, because in-door ice makers blow. We'll see how it lasts.

I absolutely require having water in the exterior of the door and freezer in the bottom. I have a double ice French door LG that has been great so far.

If you are in BTR, call Stanton’s Appliance @ (225) 275-6220. Ask for Kathy, she handles all my accounts. She can give you more information on the best and most dependable. They service all they sell.

If you look on Facebook market place there are TONS of LG fridges for $50-100. All"couldn't be fixed".
I would avoid LG refrigerators like the plauge.
Also someone said "no computers" that's impossible in this day. All fridges have adaptive defrost control now. The $30 timer is a thing of the past.
Side by sides are better than French door. Putting icemaker in the door or in the fridge is always trouble.
That said, it's what people want.
The Whirlpool brands are likely the best bet. Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Kitchen aid.
The new GE I mean Haier is ok. Avoid Kenmore. Your either getting a LG or a Hunuyang/Daewoo from them. Good luck fixing the latter and the former has a 1 in 3 chance of needing a compressor after a couple of years.
