Quick, healthy snack ideas that aren’t nuts, raw veggies, or fruit?

I’m failing hard in the weight loss department. I don’t have too much to lose - about 20 pounds total.

But I eat like a moron and it’s all due to snacking. It starts with one taste of sweets and then I gorge.

I ran my first half marathon last weekend and after months of consistent training, I weigh the same as when I started and only look a tad bit better due to muscle gains.

Nuts don’t do it for me when it comes to curtailing hunger and cravings. Yogurt is okay, but it’s too plain without sweeteners. I fear that fruit will only trigger my cravings for sweets.

Any ideas?

beef jerky and cheese sticks are two of my go to's as they actually make you feel more full.

Is beef jerky healthy?

I’ve thought about increasing my cheese intake. Like eat three cheese sticks instead of one.

Depends on the beef jerky, a lot of it is pretty loaded with sugar. But you can find some with not much sugar. It will have loads of sodium but that's not unhealthy, especially if you work out a lot and drink plenty of water.

Yep. You pretty can't buy the big name brand stuff like Jack Links or Oberta, but the health food stores have decent options. Best option, though, is to make deer jerky out of this years deer which obviously isnt possible for everyone, but its good stuff.

Greek yogurt. I do Dannon Light N Fit. It is 80 calories and comes in plenty flavors that you shouldn't need sweeteners for. You won't feel full immediately, but once it settles I find that it fills me up more than most items at such a low calorie amount.

Sara Lee makes a bread that is 45 calories per slice. The possibilities are endless. Cinnamon toast with zero calorie sweetener. Avocado toast. Grilled cheese. Any kind of sandwich you can imagine. Peanut butter toast using PB2. Sure, bread can be empty carbs but at 45 calories, you can eat 2-3 slices before you even start approaching the calorie levels of nuts. If you are doing something high in protein or fat on the bread, it should satisfy you.

Chobani flip yogurts have all sorts of great types.

Smores
Key lime
Pretzel caramel
Chocolate coconut

And it's Greek yogurt.

Pretzel caramel is so good. Only problem with those is the sugar

Not to be rude but this is all horrible advice, except for the avocado on toast, for someone having snacking issues. You just recommended he feed his sugar addiction with more unsatiating ...sugar.

Drink about 16 oz. of water when you feel like snacking. It will make you feel full.

Glad to see Sardines mentioned, especially the Wild Plante brand. Sardines and Avocadoes over cottage cheese. If have time crack a couple sunny side up eggs over the top and that is a great snack or meal depending on quantity.

Sometimes this is an issue with waiting too long to eat them. If you are a little hungry at 2:30, but starving at 3pm, you will not get full. If you eat them at 2:30, you may be ok

And as said, slam water

Just curious, why was this a bad choice?

Yes, if you get the right kind. Try all the Duke's Smoked Shorty Sausage varieties. Almost zero carbs and lots of spice (depending on the variety you get.) You should be indifferent to sodium.

You should. Find a high quality, high fat cheese that you like and eat the shite out of it on the reg.

Also, I find swigs of heavy cream to be delicious and satiating.
