actually not true. As much as i mess with junky and big scrub, they are both extremely well versed in nutrition when in comes to health. I would as McLemore and Junky are two of the most knowledgable posters on the board. Scrub is very knowledgable just very hard to get along with.

I argue with them over stuff with health when it comes to body comp and with scrub over things like 35g of carbs from fruit is a sugar bomb i.e. small things.

For those taking up for doctors, you do realize they take like only 1 class on nutrition right and its similar to stuff taught in the 80's & 90's? Most doctors do not know much about nutrition or exercise science or hormones in general unless they are a specialist or you get somebody that is involved with sports locally and even then it can be rare. Most endo's don't know much about testosterone replacement therapy or growth hormone therapy, they just don't. Most are years behind on that and its the same with exercise and nutrition.

That is why i am always saying find a specialist if you seek a doctors opinion and make sure he is one of the best in his field i.e. drive to houston.

Do yourself a favor and either cut all alcohol out, or stick to straight liquor.

Your body will burn the alcohol first, delays weight loss.

quote:

Here’s the problem with all alcoholic beverages, and the reason I recommend refraining from alcohol consumption on the diet. Alcohol, whenever taken in, is the first fuel to burn. While that’s going on, your body will not burn fat. This does not stop the weight loss, it simply postpones it, since the alcohol does not store as glycogen (starch), you immediately go back into ketosis after the alcohol is used up.

So yeah, drinking an alcoholic beverage with carbs at the end of the night is prob not the best idea for a diet.

I actually refrained!! Didn’t want it after all.
But I’m drinking a 4 oz pour now and kinda want to dump it out!

Has there ever been a daily “what are you eating” thread or is that on food and drink board?

Re: the wine
Should I just go to the gym and burn that off? Then will I be burning mostly fat in my sleep?
Sorry if ignorant.

As scrub mentioned I was referring to doctors not necessarily being well versed in nutrition

Which is sort of depressing when you think about it. I'd say going to a doctor to learn about what you should eat is about like going to the guy you got a car loan from when you need your radiator fixed.

They're semi related but not really

Is it my fault for calling them out that an observational study is the weakest form of evidence? Not "very high power"

GP's are great at diagnoses & drug interaction (within the body and each other). Research and statistics ... not so much and why should we fault them on that. It isn't like they have a degree in it. Why would I expect one of my civil engineers to know anything as remotely in depth on the subject of aeronautical engineering as an aeronautical engineer would.

Doctors are good at diagnosing and treating disease. They are pretty shitty at body optimization and performance optimization in essentially normal people.

You are doing it wrong. You are correct that this will likely lead to heart issues. Not all fat is the same. You are making the classic mistake of overloading on Omega 6. You need balance between 6 and 3 for optimal health. You need to include fish (esp wild caught). Fish can absorb toxins from the ocean, so I use a lot of algae oil, which is a primary source of Omega 3 in fish, but it doesn’t have the potential mercury etc. Lettuce is crap. You need nutrient dense leafy greans.

You weren't getting enough fiber through food and probably didn't substitute it with a fiber supplement.

Keto works, and the health benefits are real, but you've got to do your homework and understand how and why it works, and be willing to commit to it for a while. For me, I didn't start to see real results until the 3rd-4th week. Then it was like that fat just started falling off. Follow your macros to a T. You need to keep it below 20g carbs, and at least 65% fat intake. MyfitnessPal is your best friend until you have a schedule of foods down.

This isn't one of those diets you can hop on/off of every weekend. It defeats the purpose. If you want to see results, do your homework and be prepared to stick with it. It does work.

***New way of thinking*** He didn’t need fiber. No one needs fiber. He needed his body to adapt to not eating it.

People can’t yo-yo because this is how their body responds - cravings hit, eat cravings, headaches, back on diet, cravings hit...vicious cycle. Avoid the cravings and keep with it and they go away. Feeding the beast is a slippery slope.

No people can’t cycle on and off keto for a number of reasons the two greatest being:

1. They are fat pieces of shite and are addicted to carbs/sugar. The second they “refeed”, cheat, or reward themselves they start to get insane cravings again.

2. Generally most people are uneducated on electrolytes and get the keto flu so bad they quit.

There are people in the bodybuilding community that adhere to a cyclic ketogenic diet. The key factor, though, is that their refeeds are truly just carb loads of fibrous carbs like sweet potatoes, not junk food and not excuses to eat like shite.

the key factor is they workout like maniacs in conjunction w/ a "refeed" as opposed to the sedentary ketoians
