At the end of my cardiac rehab program, it was reccomend to me that I get a fitness watch to wear when I am exercising.

Something that will tie to my phone (I have an iPhone) and track my heart and activity so I can tell / report to my cardiologist.

I have never been a watch person. Reading text messages and emails on a watch doesn’t appeal to me.

Anyone have any good recs?

I asked the cardiologist and he said whatever I like lol

I have an Apple watch and it provides all the stats and data I need each day or, if I want instant feedback, it’s right there after a few taps.

I’d get an older model Apple Watch and just turn off the texts and other notifications you don’t care about. They work seamlessly with iPhone and super easy to operate and track your stats.

Don't know what to tell you if you hate wearing watches. A watch is always gonna feel like a watch. You could try a smart ring

The base model Apple Watch SE would be fine for that. Turn off whatever notifications you don't want sent to the watch, and it is a decent HR tracker for exercise.

Fitbit also has much smaller versions, and won't have any of the text/calls notification that an apple watch would.

I've always had Garmin watches. Venu 2 has been really good and battery life is 5-7 days. Gets notifications and can answer phone calls on it.

Apple Watch is great if you want a smart watch connected to your phone for alerts, talking/texting. There are much better options out there for fitness and heart-rate trackers.

This is my biggest complaint about my Apple Watch. It must be charged every night.

If you hate watches, could you just wear a chess strap to monitor your HR?

This is the way. Wrist based HR monitors are not good. Get a polar chest strap and the app on your phone. No watch and much more accurate.

I’ve had Fitbit, AppleWatch, and have been using a Whoop for the last 10months.

All things being equal, I much prefer the Whoop. It never needs to be taken off, even to charge, and has some extremely detailed metrics that you can download and send a provider with a few simple clicks.

If you aren’t tracking all day, you aren’t gathering any useful data. Small snapshots in time do nothing for health tracking.

If you just want a step counter or a heart rate monitor for zone training, it’ll work, but you can get a more accurate device for less money on both fronts.

I second the Garmin Venu.

If you want something similar but less expensive, the Garmin Forerunner 55 is excellent — very easy to use and lasts 12+ days between charging. The biggest difference between it and the Venu is it doesn’t touch screen and you can’t make phone calls on it, which is overrated anyway. Given you just wanted the tracking, it will do everything you like and more.

Unless you are only going to monitor things for a short period of time, then a chest strap is a ridiculous recommendation. No one is going to strap a monitor around your torso daily.

A whoop band is the most accurate and best thing for monitoring vital stats WITHOUT all the unimportant extras found on a smart watch.
