re: Idaho Falls...Dining Recommendations
Posted by idontyield on 7/7/26 at 11:47 am to madmaxvol
I was just in Idaho for a week and spent the 4th in Idaho Falls. The food in Idaho is what you would expect, very very meh.
We ate at Snow Eagle and the fries were good, the beer i had was awful, and the rest of the food was just meh.
Manwaring had good gelato.

I saw where yall are getting real snow, like 6-14". Wish we were at least cooling off in Colorado but we are missing all of it,
Good luck.
Good luck.
re: Yellowstone Park questions - Grand Prismatic parking / travel to Jackson

The view from the overlook on the Fairy Falls trail is the best way to see Grand Prismatic in my opinion.
re: Reccs for dinners in Denver?
Posted by idontyield on 6/24/26 at 8:34 am to dirtsandwich
If sparing no expense and want to stay downtown, I would go to Elways.
When I am paying out of my own pocket, I go to Shanahan's but it is down south near where I live.
Capital Grille would fit the bill also.
For nonsteak, Rioja or Osteria Marco on Larimer are both great.
We used to go to Earl's a lot when I worked downtown. It is suitable for client dinners.
I am sure there are other places, but since i changed jobs to get out of Denver a couple years ago I only go in town for Nuggets and Avalanche games.

time should we arrive on Friday July 3rd to get a spot?
Before 8am or be prepared to wait. People come and go all day long.

And how long do you think a straight drive (very few stops/pullovers except traffic) will take from here to Jackson Wyoming?
Before 10am it will take 2ish hours. After 10am it could take 4ish hours.
None of these times apply if someone spots a bear near the road.

I used to work near where you are staying. That is a particular stabby area of the city, pay attention while walking around.
Walking distance from there is either Steubens (casual), Guard and Grace(high end), or Savina's which used to be called La Lloma (mexican). None are remarkable, nowhere here is. I have been here going on two decades and haven't found anywhere that I crave or highly recommend.
If you go to RINO, you should probably Uber. It is walkable but sketchy af down Broadway.

Yep, this is the way. Polebridge is unremarkable and not worth the drive up to it. Bowman Lake is magnificent. Stop at Home Ranch Bottoms on the road to Polebridge for a drink and food.
Hike 734 is your complete guide to hikes in Glacier.
Belton Chalet in West Glacier is outstanding for dinner.
re: 6 months into owning my first Android phone
Posted by idontyield on 6/15/26 at 11:58 am to FLTech
I am in the same boat as the OP. My carrier requires a physical sim so I switched from an iphone 13 to the s26 so i could get a phone with a new battery.
I also have apps that just lock up and won't open sometimes, mainly garmin and my garage door app.
The camera on the S26 is light years ahead of my old one.

So much to unpack in one thread.
Low T old man asking for weight loss drug advice, the blurry mirror flex pic for no reason, and the 4% body fat comment for also no reason.
Then we move on to threatening to fight people on the internet, to two men enter one-man leaves, and finally to being willing to die.
JFC, this is incredible.

This is the golden age for bikers, at least for mountain bikers.
Derailleurs just work, no more fiddling around with tension screws or even hangers now.
Brakes are more powerful than ever and easy to bleed.
Carbon everything! Carbon wheels dont break all the time now, dont feel like riding rocks and actually stay true for a long time. Carbon cranks and bars are hard to break now also.
Everyone makes a good bike now. I can't tell you the last time I rode a bike that felt off.
Suspension doesnt wallow around on you.

re: Should I be eating later?
Posted by idontyield on 5/28/26 at 12:04 pm to WG_Dawg
I follow about the same schedule as you. I find that eating my last meal between 530-6 helps me sleep better. I go to bed between 830-9.
None of what you posted gives any insight into your diet. How many calories are you consuming daily and what do the macros look like? Hit those targets then figure out the timing of when you eat.
Peanut butter and nuts are calorie dense and not filling.

re: Two days in Boise, Idaho
Posted by idontyield on 5/3/26 at 3:38 pm to Suntiger
This will probably not go over well here but you need to temper your expectations, Boise sucks. There is a reason people didn't live there until they were priced out of the desirable areas. The natives are weird as hell too.
Idaho has some beautiful and fun places; Boise is not one of them.

If Bear Tooth Hwy is open to Red Lodge, then 100% this route. It is one of the best drives in the world.
