I played them all in release order. I was able to appreciate the changes they made with each release.

I've just started playing them. These are awesome but the good news is that I get a good long run of playing them all now.

My opinion, skip the ones that involve naval combat, it's trash

Odyssey is the exception because it's not emphasized to the same degree, but all of the stuff from the American Revolution era can be skipped over. They have solid gameplay within the AC experience, but the boat shite suuuuuuuuuuuuucks.

Just my opinion. I hate it so much. But some like it. So there's that.

I'm also one of the few that loved the Desmond storyline and how it connects to the "present." I was very okay with much more of that. To me, the ideal would have been a series of titles that culminated in a Desmond spin-off, but that didn't happen.

Loved Odyssey. Pumped well over 100 hours into that game.

Is AC1 worth playing? I have not played that one, Rogue, or Odyssey. I have all 3, but I always thought the gameplay form 1 might be too outdated to go back and give it a shot now.

I would think AC1 would be too outdated. Cool for it's time, but very repetitive and outdated controls.

Rogue is one of my favorites in the series. Shows things from the Templar perspective and I really liked the main character.

I would play Odyssey last simply because it's so long and it would be harder going from modern controls to the older ones. Really good game.

Black Flag GOAT

This was the first one I played and it kind of ruins you. Nothing else seems to catch that pirate magic.

Black Flag was awesome, I think I have played it through 3 times now.

Except you actually are now. I can't speak for anything past BF, but Origins and Odyssey actually allow you to crouch whenever you want. BF did but it was context only (you would crouch if you entered bushes). But stealthing a camp without alerting anyone is probably the most satisfying aspects of the newest games, especially since the moving around mechanics are light years better than the earlier games.

Yeah but that's the same in Far Cry. I didn't word it the best but I actually liked the assassin's story part. Especially with Ezio/Desmond. From what I've heard the new games just have a different feel to them. Much more open world like the Witcher.

BUT I might buy either Odyssey or Origins, not sure which one yet.

Origins is my favorite, but I've probably put in more hours in Odyssey (doing a Kassandra play through now).

Bayek is probably my favorite protagonist of the entire series, and he's a medjay, kind of like a cop for the people, helping whoever he can against either raiders or the established ruling government.

Kassandra and Alexios are mercenaries and since you can play your character however you want, you can straight up be a money hungry sword for hire and that kind of put me off. Plus, since you will fight for anyone, it's hard to get a grasp of "who's side am I on".

Origins is a pretty straight forward open world game, Odyssey leans more towards an RPG with dialogue options and you can customize all of your gear (even has a glamour system). All Origins lets you do is apply skins, so Bayek can be wearing the outfit from the first two AC games, or in bath house attire, whatever you can find (or purchase), but that's all cosmetic.

Odyssey is the more fleshed out game, but my favorite experience was Origins. Odyssey suffers from the Ubisoft "map barf" in a bad way, so it can be overwhelming. But the game itself is gorgeous, and like I said earlier, some of the sailing sequences were pretty breath taking.

Odyssey has been my favorite so far though I miss the present day storyline from 1-3. I’m still pissed we didn’t get a sort of Desmond game where you could really use his abilities gained from the animus in the real world.

I’ve been doing a replay with Kassandra for Odyssey and the game play is more enjoyable. It was definitely written for her to the only playable lead and the voice actress is much better than the one for Alexios.

Looking forward to pillaging as a Viking in Valhalla.

The historical aspect of them ropes me in, and my wife and I really enjoy the accuracy of the game worlds.

The added “history lessons” that they started with origins are absolutely amazing.

The Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion has been the best and most fun FPS I've ever played.

Shame the servers aren't still online.

Unity had so much potential. But the game they delivered was nothing like what people thought it’d be.

Edit: I still enjoyed it though

I thought it would be a functioning video game. I had a game breaking bug 20 hrs in that forced me to restart. Didn't pick up another until Odyssey. Still clear that the devs and I are still confused about the present day storyline.

I was so excited for 3, since we really don't ever get games set around the Revolution that aren't strategy based or whatever, but you're right on with the naval stuff. I never finished the game because of it.

Odyssey was the first one I played and I freaking loved it. The trailer for AC Valhalla looked incredible and I'll grab that day 1. Really looking forward to it.

Black Flag was the best.

I have Origins and Odyssey but became bored with them quickly.
