I can't remember exactly, but it was in Florida after a bowl game. I had already had too many Bourbons and Coke and we were hungry.
Wife was sober, so I got the "drive home" covered.
Threw back a couple of Orzo and coffee beans drinks and told the waiter " I want that huge lobster, that big arse, humongous lobster in your tank.
It was delicious. Period. It may have been multiple pounds of seafood and a slight wisp of butter. A slight wisp.
She paid the bill on a credit card and got a notice. I asked her how much that cost.
"You don't want to know".

Around $600 for two for the tasting menu with wine pairing at Glicine in Amalfi

It's a two Michelin star restaurant though. One of the higher rated places in Florida. It was worth it. That was my engagement dinner.
They call you a month in advance and make a menu just for you. Nothing you don't like is on it. Was pretty special.

Table side smoked coffee crusted wagyu at Smith & Wollensky's in Vegas. I think it was around $375 at the time.

Charlie Trotter's, Chicago, mid 90's. Price was $100 per, total with tip was $300+. The reservation was from a Senator, at one point I looked around, half the people there were regulars on "Meet the Press". I reveled in my short-lived dip into 1% pool.

Delmonico’s, a couple of years ago for my daughter’s high school graduation trip. Almost $800 for three of us, including about a 30% tip for the waiter, he was just awesome. After he asked why we were in NYC, he treated my daughter like a princess.
For dessert they specially decorated her baked Alaska. When the manager came by on his rounds he congratulated my daughter on her graduation.
The food was incredible. Our best dining experience ever.

Expense doesn’t equal best. What’s your best? Clancy’s softshell crab is wonderful.

I want to say $400 even at Flight in Memphis on NYE. Went with another couple as a pregame meal before going to a party Raiford’s. I think the food was $100/person and then we had a wine flight + another bottle.
I don’t remember much about the evening past the lobster bisque.

Cannot remember the price but it was at Maison Blanche in Washington, D.C. in January of 1981. Mrs. Missouri Waltz and I were in town for Ronald Reagan's inauguration. Present in the restaurant at the same time as us were Sen. Nancy Kassebaum, Johnny Carson, Efram Zimbalist, Jr., and Omar Bradley.
