Rays in eunice had the best chocolate donuts in the world. unfortunately the building caught on fire and I dont think they will rebuild with all of these nasty arse asian donut places undercutting everyone.

Divine Doughnuts in Vicksburg is worth a stop. Good tamales too.
There are lots of little donut shops in small towns in Texas, often in dumpy old buildings and run by Mexicans. There's one in Atmore, AL too now.
These places are worth stopping at, and most also make jalapeno-cheese sausage kolaches. If I go into one of these shops, the first thing I go for is the jalapeno-cheese sausage kolache.
Buc-ees makes a fine jalapeno-cheese sausage kolache.
