I don't live in BR and haven't for ages, but welcome to Baton Rouge and I hope you have a great visit. Great weekend to visit although it's going to be crazy busy everywhere. I would recommend eating at local establishments with LSU ties, such as the Chimes. There are a lot of people on this site better qualified to give better choices, but wanted to welcome you on your trip.

If you're here for a home game, you absolutely won't get better food in a restaurant than you would walking around campus on game day with a sign around your neck that says, "Yankee here. Feed me."

Everyone will have a different idea of the best, but here are some for-sure seafood restaurants with LSU charm: Phil’s Oyster Bar, The Chimes, Mike Anderson’s.

I think Louisiana Lagniappe is a better meal than those, but it doesn’t have that LSU feel and it’s nicer dining.

The Pastime is a great local LSU place. The food is nothing great at all, but it’s a local tradition if you want to check it out. A Poboy there is your best bet. Not a bad place to stop by for a beer and just look around and eat some place else.

Louie’s Cafe for breakfast is another traditional spot.

Two questions:

1) Are you a mover?
2) Are you a shaker?

Our ritual is Chimes in Covington for Friday night. Pastime or L Club before the game, Acme Oyster House after the game, and hit up Bergerons in Port Allen on the way home for some cracklins and boudin.

Roberto's usually has a good atmosphere the night before a big game. Food is great too.

Roberto’s
French market bistro
Louisiana lagniappe
Doe’s

Won’t have the best game day atmosphere, but my favorite places for cocktails and good meals

I hope it's better than the Kentucky jelly. Do not recommend.

It’s for former lettermen. It’s in the PMAC.

If this is your first time in town, you absolutely must go to The Chimes.

If wanting the LSU experience, grab a combo from the first Cane's location, a burger from Raul's, and end the day with dinner at Chimes.

There's much better restaurants than these, but you probably want a mix of casual and LSU authentic...I'd also go to the Walk On's on Nicholson.

Or go a little further and go to Umami for the best sushi in the city.

I'll add another vote for Roberto's. Great atmosphere and food is delicious. La Lagniappe is great food, but not as good atmosphere. Parrain's is also solid if you need to stay closer to campus. Chimes on campus is also a must.
