I’d accept. By the time you get the pieces to be a contender again Kyren will be worn down

Electric Fence for Dog

Posted by bleedpurplengold on 9/23/25 at 1:18 pm
We have an enclosed back yard where our dog can stay while we are at work, but when it rains she panics and digs a hole under the fence and escapes (also chews up the bottom of my fence boards).

I've tried multiple different things, but none have worked. Want to install an electric fence with a collar on the dog, non gps as I have heard that sometimes they get off alignment. I don't want to have to dig up my backyard and want to just connect the wire to my fence directly.

The issue I am running into is the way my backyard is designed and how the fences I have seen operate. From my understanding you have to connect each end of the wire to a hub that plugs into an outlet. I won't be able to do this since I just want to go from one corner of my back yard to the other. Picture my lot as a square and I need to run the fence from midway point on one side around to the midway point on the other side.

Are there any options out there for this type of system?

They were definitely teal

Any reason for a game warden to take a couple of ducks from a hunter other than being over the limit? We were doing work at our deer lease and at the end of the road the warden was checking the teal. Ole boy walked to the back of the boat with a mess of teal (couldn’t get an exact count) and the warden had two in his hand and put em in his front seat. We pulled up at the end of the exchange so the ticket could have been already issued. Believe it was 4 hunters in total and young guys
80 this morning in pointe coupee
It wasn’t much better in the boat either. Believe we went 12, 15 and 6 Wednesday through Friday. Didn’t even fish Saturday.

Had some guys next to us surf fishing while we crabbed. He was reeling in 10” white trout one after another

Didn’t speak to anybody that caught inshore
and I can just pull up to Southern Wire and they have some for sale or do I have to order ahead of time?

Purchasing Good Crab Trap

Posted by bleedpurplengold on 6/16/25 at 1:57 pm
The other weekend at Grand Isle my crab trap disappeared the second night I left it out. Either tide took it (don't believe as I had it anchored with a long piece of rebar hammered into the sand) or someone "thought" it was theirs.

In need of a good, sturdy trap. Is there any where on the way to grand isle that I can stop and pick a couple up? The one I had was fine, but it would collapse a little under pressure. Link to the trap I had and just looking for one a little more durable.

8 yesterday and 10 today. Went all over. Prolly caught 100 12” trout
Out here now. Bait jumping everywhere and birds diving, but only one bite so far. It’s early, think they will turn on in a few. Water is clear
Not fishing Sunday. Just Thursday - Saturday

Grand Isle Fishing Report

Posted by bleedpurplengold on 6/4/25 at 12:34 pm
Heading down to the island this weekend and weather looks almost too good to be true. Been hearing a lot of people been catching on croakers, but not much talk about shrimp. Bringing the boat and plan to fish out of it in the morning and surf fish in the evenings while the kids play on the beach. Any feedback would be appreciated
This is our first ski vacation so never been to a big or small town. Thanks for the advice and I’ll be sure to check it all out. Guess we will also have to make the trek to Red River one day we are not skiing

Also see that AF is supposed to be getting a few inches of snow today and tomorrow, but nothing next 14 days with highs in the fifties. Hopefully there’s some left
What are some things to do during the day at Red River with kids other than the tour?

Also any idea where a free hill is to sled in Angel Fire? He have sleds

Angel Fire New Mexico Advice

Posted by bleedpurplengold on 2/14/25 at 8:50 am
First time skiers and taking kids 5 & 8 to Angel Fire over Mardi Gras for 4 full days. We are figuring we will do two days of skiing, but looking to see if there are any other things to do in the area during the day. Any open areas for kids to sled (they had a blast on the levees during our snow storm). I see the resort has sledding, but it is in hour increments and doesn't really kill much of the day. Anybody have any experience with the snow mobile tours? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Read that, only issue is she’ll dig another hole and get out before I can fill it
Trying to stay away from anything with a collar as I would have to take off her shock collar now. Keep it on her as that’s the only way she comes back if I start beeping it. Plus I don’t want to have to keep switching collars

Dog Digging Holes in Backyard

Posted by bleedpurplengold on 11/7/24 at 4:42 pm
My wired hair pointing griffon has started digging holes under our fence in order to escape during the day. We like to keep her outside during the day, but can’t because she keeps escaping. Tried crawfish powder along the fence line and that didn’t work.

Anybody have any experience with getting them to stop that doesn’t involve me driving rebar dowels every foot?
Bought the splitter box in the link above to try out.

No Wi-Fi other than hot spots which have been spotty
Not exactly sure, but if I had to guess between 4-8 years

Splitting Directv Sound Issue

Posted by bleedpurplengold on 10/21/24 at 7:35 pm
Only have one Directv box at our camp and we don’t want to have to get another one for the outdoor tv. Bought a Warrky HDMI splitter and a long HDMI cord to where we could run two tv’s at the same time that both show the same thing.

Hooked up and both pictures work, but the sound does not. If we just run one tv (through the splitter) the sound works, but when we plug up the second cord it cuts the sound off from both tvs. I have this same setup at my house except for I have my box split 3 ways and everything works perfectly.

Is this something with the Directv box? Maybe a bad splitter even though it works with one cord? Have tried different HDMI cords as well and none have worked when split two ways, but work with just the one tv.

Any help would be appreciated.
First one kinda looks like Russ Johnson, but not sure what the swoop is on the last name
Zamir white. Finished strong last season when given the opportunity and hasn’t done squat this year

Not sure, received a notification for tickets not long after the open concluded. If you download their app you will start receiving emails for it.

The Open Tickets

Posted by bleedpurplengold on 9/19/24 at 7:23 am
Applied for Open tickets and received Monday and Thursday allotment. First time ever applying and curious to know if these are hard to come by. Figured they would be easier than the Master's but didn't know I would win first time trying.
What has more non skiing activities and better town? Angel Fire or Red River?

Not necessarily looking for cheapest option either, just don't want to be paying an extreme premium for a place to stay that caters more towards skiers.

Budgeting around $5-7k without flights

Winter Vacation Destinations

Posted by bleedpurplengold on 7/2/24 at 8:19 am
Kids (8 & 5) are begging to see some snow and we want to plan a trip during Mardi Gras. Neither my wife or I snow ski (except once as children) but would like to do maybe lessons one day with the kids and maybe a day on some easy slopes so not really a skiing trip. Want to sled, snowmobile ride, etc.

Looked into Santa Fe, but it’s not always guaranteed to snow there.

Are places like Steamboat our best option? Not looking for real expensive places like Aspen or Park City.
Checked out Aruba but more than I wanted to spend for a 5 and 7 year old to want to be at a pool all day

Our original plan was Punta Cana, but we want to travel from Wednesday through Sunday to lessen the amount of vacay days and allllll of their returning flights we could find don’t land until after 7 or 8 pm. Would be a miserable Monday work day getting back that late as we live 2 hours from Nola airport
