What was the best meal you've ever ate?

Can be at a restaurant or at home.
I'm more interested in what everyone's best/most memorable meal was, my memory is shite but I do vividly remember a huge 3 lb steamed lobster at Oceana in New York City. Cost about $150 but it was damn big and juicy.
Waiter brought it out with a bib and a bunch of lobster cracking tools. Asked if I needed any help cracking the shell. Little did this Yankee know I peeled many a crawfish in my lifetime, I picked up the whole lobster with my hands, twisted cracked the whole thing open like a July-caught crawfish.
Wasn't the most couth approach to take in this type of restaurant, but picking at lobsters with little tools looks like something for women to do

My favorite meal has always been the following.
Leftover pork (ribs, roast, etc.), beans (virtually any), fresh onion, rice, lots of cayenne pepper. My stepdad called it jambalaya, but it was just what was in the fridge.

Anytime going to Tampicos in Morgan City during my 36 years of being alive.
Salsa and queso
Half order of super nachos
Steak fajita chimi or burrito corgato
I don't live down there anymore so maybe it's nostalgia but that's my pick nonetheless

Did you also crack open the claws like that, or did you just skip the claw meat?

We were traveling to an island in Japan (Sado, known for their oysters) and stayed the night in the port town of Niigata so we could catch an early ferry.
We walked around for at least an hour trying to find ANY restaurant that had an English menu or at least we could communicate (we've been to Japan twice so we know a tiny bit of the language but not enough to order off a fully Japanese menu). We finally stumbled upon a place where the host very graciously seated us in our own room with a fireplace and instead of depending on a menu, he just had them bring out course after course for us.
We had sushi, sashimi, miso-steamed Sado oysters, hot pot, yakiniku, fried puffer fish...you name it, we ate it. He just had the chef send out whatever he felt like serving. Everything was incredibly fresh, our Oolong Hais were constantly refilled, and we were treated with incredible kindness.
Not only was the food AMAZING, but the hospitality was wonderful, and the experience was so cool and memorable.

12 course meal at Osteria Francescana.
We planned an entire trip around going here and it didn’t disappoint. Meeting Chef Massimo was the icing on the cake of an incredible, once in a lifetime meal.

So jealous. Franceschetta58 is probably in my top 5 favorite dining experiences ever, can only imagine how good the big show was. That said Modena is a must for anyone who loves food.
Best meal ever was Lazy Bear in San Fran. From the moment they greet you to the morning after breakfast bag they send you home with it is just absolutely incredible.

Honestly, I’m not sure. But the one meal I ate that I wanted to learn to make at home was a pumpkin (butternut squash) ravioli served with bolognese sauce at a restaurant in Ferrara, Italy. Desert was a chocolate/hazelnut mouse with caramel sauce. It was outstanding also.
I don’t make it as often as I would like because the ravioli and the bolognese are both a lot of work, but I do make it at home and it is very good. Haven’t actually made the mousse at home.

Yep. Probably a Pouldoo gumbo that we killed out of a running boat when the ducks weren’t flying. And some fried catfish caught on liver on a line next to the houseboat.

Blackened and Fried Yellowtail Snapper that my friends and I caught off shore in Key West.
Took them to a local place that cooked them up both ways.
It's very tough to beat fresh caught of fish.

10 course or so meal while sitting in the kitchen at Commanders Palace. Had our own personal chef and server who paired wine with each course.
Then we got one of each dessert they serve including the souffle.

Veal medallions ordered from room service at the airport Hilton in Queens, NY on 12/30/95. I’ve had a lot of great meals in my life and many that could compete for the top spot. But this meal was, ahem, complimented by a stranger outside my stall in the restroom of a bar near Times Square the next day. I was mortified and couldn’t respond but I figured that will always have to be my answer to this question.
Imagine hearing this spoken in a thick New York accent: “Whoa, I don’t know what you had for dinner last night but it must’ve been awesome!”
It was awesome. That’s true. But I was speechless.

This is like answering "what's your favorite song?" or "favorite band".
It all depends on the perspective.
Unfortunately, I can't choose just one.
