re: Best Year for Album Releases - Treacherous Cretin on 5/19/23 at 9:31 pm
1973 was pretty insane…
That would be my pick. Missing from your list is Wake of the Flood by the Grateful Dead, the first album they released on their own label. Traffic released the live On the Road in ‘73. Also, Miles Davis released two double live albums that year, the first from... Posted on Music Board Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Foods you like that get a bad rap. - Treacherous Cretin on 5/18/23 at 12:55 pm
I also love a good cold red delicious apple, which is considered one of the lesser apples by most.
I don’t know about that. Last I heard they’re still producing more red delicious apples every year than any other variety. Maybe the people who say they don’t like them have never had a... Posted on Food and Drink Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Who here has never listened to The Dark Side of the Moon - Treacherous Cretin on 5/16/23 at 5:23 pm
Never in my life have I seen anyone put Pink Floyd in the same category as party bands.
You don’t think of Floyd as a “party band?” Pink Floyd was basically the UK version of the Dead. They were the premiere psychedelic band in London. Both bands were at the center of their respectiv... Posted on Music Board Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |

re: What is something “easy” to cook that you struggle with? - Treacherous Cretin on 5/8/23 at 1:01 pm I have that Aroma brand rice cooker. I bought it by recommendation of America’s Test Kitchen. It works fine but I wouldn’t recommend it. The lid is attached and that makes it harder to clean. If you’re going to buy a rice cooker, get one with a lid that can be fully detached.
I like the rice cook... Posted on Food and Drink Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |

re: Best double-album - Treacherous Cretin on 5/7/23 at 8:24 pm My first instinct is to go with Pink Floyd The Wall or The Beatles white album. I could go with Miles Davis Bitches Brew or Frank Zappa Freak Out!
Instead I’ll go with the first live 16-track album. Live/Dead by the Grateful Dead.

re: Anyone Ever Been To Bonnaroo? - Treacherous Cretin on 4/14/23 at 9:42 pm I went to the first one. It was a great time but it was hot and muggy as hell. I did nothing but sweat the whole time I was there. They didn’t have showers. I brought two buckets and filled them with water so I could give myself a sponge bath in my tent. I couldn’t even dry myself off. There wasn’t ... Posted on Music Board Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |

re: Grateful Dead "American Beauty" and "Workingman's Dead" - Treacherous Cretin on 4/7/23 at 3:02 pm Sorry you missed them live. I was late to the game but managed to see 64 shows from 7/6/87 to 7/29/94. There is nothing like a Grateful Dead concert.
Just to tie it into this thread, I was lucky enough to catch them play Ripple to close the show at the Capitol Centre in Landover, MD on 9/3... Posted on Music Board Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (3) |
re: Is there any benefit to using Himalayan pink salt? - Treacherous Cretin on 4/4/23 at 6:22 am No, curing salt is something different. It has an artificial pink color and is not the same thing. Don’t try curing your pork belly with Himalayan pink salt and don’t sprinkle curing salt on your steak. ... Posted on Food and Drink Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: Is there any benefit to using Himalayan pink salt? - Treacherous Cretin on 4/3/23 at 3:53 pm I use pink salt in a grinder that grinds it pretty coarse. That’s great on steak and baked potatoes or whatever can handle big crunchy chunks of salt. I’ve also got some in a finer grain which is just okay. It’s nothing special out of a shaker. But I got it to salt the rim of a cocktail glass and it... Posted on Food and Drink Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
