I guess we could use another place, but Ancora checks this one off for me. There’s also Sofia and Domenica...and I think another place opening where Wood used to be.

Ancora is the best of the bunch, but it’s a bit inconsistent and they aren’t nearly as good as the pies Bogdan used to put out at Dolce Vita. Domenica has really gone down hill. Their corniciones are almost always flat now. It’s sad. I haven’t been to Sofia but will have to give it a try.

Agree NOLA is lacking good Indian food. You have Nirvana/Taj Mahal and then Shyans plus Saffron NOLA (though that’s a different beast)

El Libre isn’t a bad choice.

Must have missed the thread, but El Libre is closing. We now just have Que Rico and Manolito.

Alexandria has better German food than BR if Embers still has schnitzel on their menu.

For me in New Orleans, it's beignets, apparently.

I got that the last time they were doing it. Wasn't a fan. The sausage variety plate is better.

For food, the basic saurkraut and bratwurst will do in addition to mustards, pumpernickel, pretzels, pastries, and cake.

If you're not getting some currywurst and goulash as well, you're doing it wrong.

I miss Tex-Mex Specifically, queso.

Haven't found any good brisket up here, either, but I did live in TX for 11 years so I know my standards are sky high.

Can't wait to be back in Austin in September so I can eat my weight in both BBQ and tacos. I'm not coming back up here until I gain 10 pounds.

I think Smoke Shack does a good brisket. Have you tried them yet?

Not saying they'll definitely live up to your high bar, but it's good.

I definitely plan on eating nothing but tacos and BBQ when we go to Austin in September.

Go to Valentina's and get the brisket taco. Best of both worlds and it's fricking amazing.
