What’s the difference between Mahatma rice and Great Value rice (Wal Mart Brand)? Serious question. Besides the package and the price, what’s the difference in the rice?

I've wondered the same thing.

They might use different varieties which could alter cooking quality but the varieties that are used from mills in the south you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference unless it was Jasmine
Grain appearance could be different also but the avg person wouldn’t see that

Always bought Mahatma because that’s what my grandpa cooked. I’ve tried Jasmine and a few other types over the years, but the wife loves how I make that “sticky” rice like my grandpa made so I keep going back to Mahatma.

Horse shite!! I was gifted a 10# bag of Creole Rose rice from Garber Farms. That’s the best smelling and best tasting rice I’ve ever eaten. Can’t say enough about it.

My dad was a fan of Ellis Stansel’s Gourmet Rice from Gueydan.

Aromatic rice is a different type. Yes, there are differences between “regular” rice and aromatic or gourmet rice. I’m talking “regular” rice here. Buy a bag of Mahatma long grain and a bag of Great Value long grain. Cook them and tell me what the difference is.

Baker Farms Popcorn rice or Supreme Rice. My grandpaw would turn over is his grave if I didn't buy Louisiana rice.

What is so special about it? Never had it as far as
I know. My dad died and I still don’t know what he liked about it.

That's damn good rice. I'm guessing they got schwacked with Laura and Zeta.
