Heading to DC in February for 5 days and staying downtown. Any recommendations?
Interested in going to a steakhouse one night, Italian another night and then open the rest of the time. Lunch suggestions are welcome also.

Do you have access to a car or will you be using the Metro to get to places? It's been a while since I've been to D.C. but I would recommend Ray's The Steak in Arlington for steaks and Kabab Palace or Ravi Kabob House for Afgan/Pakistan food.

I went to the dabney when I was there a few weeks ago. Pretty solid with a good atmosphere. I have heard founding farmers is really good as well. For brunch the diplomat is great. I would try and hit up momofuku ccdc too.

Bring a mock bomb to an elementary school and Obama will invite you to the White House for dinner.

Yes, Rays in Arlington was a lot of fun. Greasy burgers with tons of stuff on them.
Eta: I'm thinking Rays Hell Burger

From google's street view, Ben's Chilli Bowl now occupy where Ray's Steak used to be. Looks like Ray's now has a steakhouse and a burger joint not too far way from each other.
For some drunken food; Mario's Pizza House for a Steak & Cheese sub.

Zaytinya is a really good Mediterranean tapas spot (Jose Andres place).
I also second Matchbox.

Founding Farmers was great when I was there. Good food, cool vibe and really solid cocktails.

I really enjoyed 1789 Restaurant.
Also, get drinks at the Jack Rose Saloon. It may be the best bar I've ever been to.

For the Italian I would recommend Tosca. The Blue Duck Tavern in the Park Hyatt hotel was very good. The ethnic food in DC is good. We enjoyed the Indian food at Rasika and the Mediterranean food at Zaytinia. Michel Richard's Central is very good. We were there this year for the big Mardi Gras jazz dinner held the day after Ash Wednesday because a snowstorm forced them to close Mardi Gras night. The Old Ebbit Grill, the oldest restaurant in town, is an historic place with good food and a nice bar.

Have you ever been to the Cosmos Club? They treat you like a gentleman. It's a bucket list sort of establishment.
I have a friend whose father is a member. We were treated very well.

go to jack rose saloon. The most extensive whiskey selection I have seen.
Whiskey is the most important meal of the day anyway. The rest is just filler.

For seafood, visit Fiola Mare in Georgetown at Washington Harbor. The recommendation of Tosca is spot on, amazing Italian.
Also on U street, check our Pearl Dive, a cool, laid back but quality place to grab a bite.
