Not a good idea to talk politics at the table

Big family Thanksgiving Dinner at my first house I bought. We carved up the turkey but there was still some meat on the carcass. To make room on the table, I put the platter and carcass back in the small kitchen. No counter space so I tossed it in the oven (which was off).
Fast forward two weeks and I am thinking “damn, why didn’t I have leftover turkey sandwiches this year?” One of my favorite things about T day. Oh crap. Run in kitchen and open oven to rotting turkey carcass. The smell was, um, not good. Threw out pan and carcass. Opened doors and windows to house. Had to do a full Oven Off cleaning.

Fried a turkey and forgot to take out the giblets and neck.
Grabbed the handle to take the lid off my dutch oven to check bread. Forgot it had just been in an oven at 450.
Cut my finger pretty good on a very sharp knife

I forgot to put the top back on the blender.
I had made a soup and was blending the solids. The first batch went fine. The second batch went on the ceiling.

Early on cooking in a new house on an unfamiliar stove, I was heating up oil in a pan to fry a roux, but got distracted by a phone call. I come back and the oil has caught fire. In a panic, rather than cover the leaping flames with a lid to put out the grease fire or grab my extinguisher from under the sink, I instead decide to put on a pot holder and carry the flaming frying pan outside to pour it out on the rocks. While trying to get the door open, I end up accidentally spilling some of the hot oil onto my carpet and melting a hole in my carpet. The next time a grease fire broke out in my kitchen, I had the good sense to just cover it and turn off the burner.

Bought a mandolin slicer, thought I was too good for the guard.
About 15 seconds into using the thing I sliced off the end of my thumb.
Also when I was a kid......I put a mangnalite type pot with a black plastic handle in the microwave to melt some nacho cheese. I probably ran it for 5:00 and then reached in and grabbed the handle. Spilled nacho cheese everywhere.

It's a rite of passage when you buy one. First time using mine it was off with the top of my thumb. Same happened to a buddy of mine.
And i've definitely done the cold pan on top of a scorching hot pizza stone. Shattered everywhere.

Preheated the bottom oven and put the food in the top oven. Was very disappointed 30 minutes later when I hungrily checked the food and realized my error.

Can't remember what I was making, but put something in the crockpot, turned it on, and left for work. Problem was I forgot to plug it in.

The worst cut was from a cheese slicer. It was an old one I had brought home from cleaning out my grandparents house, along with some cast iron and a few other things. Caught the tip of my thumb when it slipped. Took out a hunk of the nail, and blood everywhere. I got the bleeding stopped and some bandages on it, then finished making grilled cheese sandwiches.
Worst burn was from hot cast iron. I have a Lodge griddle, one of the rectangular ones. Was heating up some bagel bites or something for the kids, and oven was on 450. Grabbed my thick oven mitt from the counter, not realizing someone had sat it down next to the sink and the counter was wet. Our oven mitt is one of those with the separate thumb area, and that part was dry, but I had all the weight of the griddle on my fingertips and it blistered up pretty bad. Since then, I have put one mitt inside of another one for handling the large cast iron with.
And just yesterday, shaking something without making sure it was closed. I had a bottle of coffee creamer with the flip top lid. It is the kind that has half and half with sugar, and I went to give it a good shake yesterday morning and my shirt looked like I got caught in the rain. Little white droplets everywhere.
To go back to when I was learning to cook, this was probably in middle school. The house we lived in at the time, we bought from a couple that did catering. There was a commercial cooking set up in the kitchen. Wolf double oven, 6 gas burners, with a griddle/broiler.
I was cooking something for myself in an iron skillet. I had seen my parents put pans in the sink with a little dawn and soak them to loosen up the food. I had no idea not to do this with cast iron, since I was 11 or 12. I got my first lesson on how to clean and season that day.

A couple years ago I was at my parents house making dinner for them, sous vide steaks. I did not pat the steaks dry enough before searing, and as soon as I put the first one in the pan the oil bubbled over and a 2ft high flame erupted.
I completely froze and literally said "I don't know what to do." My dad pushed me aside, turned off the burner and covered the pan with the lid.
I know how to respond in the event of a fire, but when it actually happened I was a total deer in the headlights.

The first Christmas after my wife and I got married, we attempted to recreate my dad's famous Christmas brownies. They are soft and gooey to the point of needing to be kept in the fridge.
Me and the wife started baking it and when time was up it didn't look cooked all the way. We put it in another 5 minutes. Times up, still doesn't look done. This went on for about 30-45 minutes.
Needless to say, we had to throw the pan away.

Me and a couple buddies came home drunk at 3 am and were craving fried pickles from Pluckers.
Pluckers was closed.
We decided we'd make our own fried pickles.
We had pickles
We had no flour/corn starch/fish fry or anything so we decided to crush ritz crackers into dust to use that as the breading
We had milk but no egg. We just dipped the pickles in milk before rolling in the cracker dust.
The only oil we had was olive oil. We attempted to fry said milk-ritz-pickles in said olive oil.
They didnt come out great.

One time I cracked an egg and threw the contents in the trash and kept the shell. Thankfully not a costly mistake and I had more eggs.
One time I was making a curry and threw a ton of cayenne powder in thinking it was paprika. Ruined the whole thing

Done a lot of all those mentioned
No catastrophes, but I hate when I simply pour 1/2 & 1/2 in my OJ or OJ in my coffee.

Stupid stuff you've done in the kitchen.
Probably too much to list here - but just last night I put some frozen garlic breads on a sheet pan I thought was clean
It was the pan I used to cook salmon earlier in the day - the salmon had been cooked on foil but the bread still tasted fishy
Also, when the microwave was out I melted some butter in a measuring cup in the oven - I took it out and put it on the counter - a few minutes later I went to pour the butter but that my measuring cup was still hot! Dumb arse
