By "easily available" I assume you mean mass marketed. If you are west of the Atchafalaya, then Teets, Kartchners, or Rabideaux's - problem solved.
Otherwise, New Orleans Smoked Sausage is very good. Tony Chachere's brand is also above average. Conecuh has good flavor as well.
IMO, the rest kinda fall into the same category. Not a big fan of the liquid smoke types (Richards, Verons).
And some of the answer will depend on what you're using it for.

To consider something decent it must at a minimum be smoked.
Almost 90% of sausages are smoke flavor added.
As people have stated:
Any place in Ville platte has good sausage as long as they have a smokehouse.
Borques in port barre and lafayette is good too.
D&j’s in Gonzales has excellent sausage.
Rabideauxs is good too.
The key is to get true smoked sausage.

I think there’s plenty of good sausage that’s not smoked with real wood smoke. Plenty of good smoked sausage, real wood smoked and liquid smoke.

If you put Hillshire Farm or Ekrich or John Morrell or any other brand of those glorified hot dogs that call themselves smoked sausage, I won't eat it.

Their 3 cheese is very good. I’m also a fan of the Apple, pineapple, and blueberry.
We've tried every flavor available at our local grocers, but after I looked up the website this morning, the wife (again no pics) and I have decided a road trip is in order. Hattiesburg is only 80 miles from us and we want to see all 15 flavors, among other things they have. I wish they had a large meat shop like that around me where I could visit regularly.

Conecuh has both skinny and traditional size. Traditional size isn’t spicy. Spicy (skinny) is fine for jambalaya, red beans, etc. No good for the grill tho. Unfortunately, that’s the best you’ll get in GA. I usually stop in Covington on the way back to GA and load up on Verons, Double D and Chee Wees

Hogs for the cause is the best.
I do enjoy country pleasin as well. That's what we get from the store in Mississippi where our camp is.

This. And using it in red beans really makes the meal.
Chisesi Bros. makes it: LINK
Their VIP sausage is good, too. It looks like they make the Tony Chachere’s and Rickey Jackson brand sausage, too.
I see a lot of people talking about Lil Butcher Shop. It’s ok, but too salty for me and the fam. Same with Country Pleasin’. Regular Conecuh is good. Strick’s, another butcher shop here, is good, too.
There’s a local place (Hattiesburg) that has done my deer sausage before, Enslins, that is great.

Sort of depends on what you are cooking baw.
Conecuh is my go to (I live in alabama) for red beans. It's also fine in a jambalaya if you drain the fat after you brown it. It's also good in a boil.
I don't like it in a gumbo due to its fat content. I'm actually a big fan of Richards in a gumbo since it's dry. Obviously Veron's will work with just about any dish.
I like Manda in a boil as well, but that's about it.

Manda and Veron's, I usually get whatever is on sale. No real difference. If neither is on sale... then Manda.
If you are near a Buc-ee's, or driving past one, they have a Chicken fajita sausage that is legit. It's in the small cooler section they usually have in the back of the store.

Wait, Rabideaux’s is sold in stores in Lafayette? Did not know that. It’s great stuff. Just stocked up at the source last week when I was passing through I-O-A

We grill the skinny ones all the time. I just cook it slow and most of the greasiness drips out. Set it out on the edge of the grill then put it right over the flames at the end.

Rouses here in Slidell has best stop products. Boudin, smoked boudin, andouille, and sausage. I used some of their andouille for a gumbo recently and it definitely added some flavor.

Louisiana has the best smoked sausage. Y’all can keep that Conecuh Alabama sage sausage junk in Alabama. Support a Louisiana company.

Creole Country is the best sausage I’ve found, but it’s hard to find. They mostly service the upper echelon restaurants in New Orleans. You can usually find some at Langenstien’s, though I’ve occasionally seen it at Cansecos.
My favorites are the alligator, crawfish and green onion, and charisse.
The shop is on N. Scott Street, over by the Winn Dixie on North Carrollton. Mr. Schmidt gave me a tour one time and a free taste test of all his sausage. I just rode up on my bike one day! I bought 40 lbs from him on the spot! Rode home with that sausage strapped to my bike!
