El Magey during covid was super expensive. I see the prices came back down.

The Trappe Door

Has that dungeon feel to it because it's in the basement below other restaurants, but the food and booze selection is spectacular.

This thread reminds me of a time I had just started a new job. First week we were talking about lunch and one of the coworkers starts talking up this "little hole in the wall place" he found. He said it was a dump but great Italian food, so I was game to check it out.... It was Gino's. ??

Their menu looks great. I would do the fried brussells salad, followed by the steak frites for sure.

Cafe Habana City in lafayette

Outstanding food quality.

Too bad they are on that "other" side of Congress Street where no one goes anymore, except for going to UMC Charity Hospital across the street.

Great food! Don't know how much college business they get, given their location and what college students can spend, but the food is outstanding.

My Lafayette hidden gem would be Cedar Deli.

Long Beach Market and Deli on the MS coast. Everything I've tried has been great and a very extensive beer selection.

Not really hidden, but the Stockyard by the old bridge is great. Big Butts bbq in central is also very good. A new Thai place opened up down the road called Sweet Rice. Haven’t had a dish yet that wasn’t awesome!!!

Harry’s Poboys on 308 in Larose.

One of the best roast beef Poboys you could ask for.

Don’t know if it’s a hidden gem as it’s widely popular locally but you’d never find it on your own if traveling through.

Blue Pacific Food Mart. Best Thai in Birmingham and it’s in an old gas station.
