I loved Pinetta's when in college. I used to order the spaghetti or veal. Forty-five years ago it was known as a good restaurant - not top of the line, but not a dump either. However, no one ever even mentions it on this board.

What is the deal with Pinetta's? Has it hit bottom? Do people still go there or has it been forgotten?

It’s def forgotten, but I graduated in 08 and left BR immediately. Every time I go back for a game, I stop in.
Don’t think it’s been cleaned in 10 yrs.

I think it’s gross and dirty. Not a popular opinion on this board, but oh well. If you can’t be bothered to simmer your pasta and sauce together, come on man.

Let the downvotes rain.

The food is ok, but it's dark as frick in there, which is probably good, because it's also dirty as frick in there. A mop, broom or wash bucket and rag have not been seen in that place since 1975. I wouldn't turn it down if someone offered to take me there, but never a place I'm going to suggest or go of my own accord.

Wife and I love the place. Not sure I care if they clean it, as long as dust bunnies don't show up in the food.

The lasagna and moussaka potatoes are as good as they've always been. Ignore the cleanliness.

I went once and it was terrible. So bad it wasn't worth a second visit. I'll never understand the allure.

I went about 10 years ago and it was fine, but a bit dusty.

This might not apply specifically to Pinetta’s but there’s this weird phenomena where people feel obligated to over hype hole in the wall restaurants. It’s almost like a “I know something you don’t know” thing

Best red sauce in town, imo. I'm not a big fan of their German offerings, though. Went about 4 years ago, and in an inconspicuous spot, I wrote my name in the dust and grime. Went not long ago, and my name was still there, but barely able to make it out, covered with more dust.

Don’t even try to eat there with more than 4 people. They won’t combine tables. Service is horrible.

If you like watery pesto, average lasagna, and other below average food, then Pinetta’s is the place to go.

I have tried Pinetta’s once a decade over the last forty years and have always vowed to never return, but I guess I forget or get talked into it.

I mention it in any Italian thread I see

Best value in town.

Edit: I feel like it’s cleaner now than it was 10-12 years ago.

If you didn’t order a meal with red sauce try again. You ordered incorrectly.

I don’t know of any other place in BR that gets such wildly different responses out of people. You cover the full spectrum of love it to hate it every time someone brings it up.

Love it. It's definitely been cleaned during the Covid. A lot cleaner now. Food is delicious

Never had a bad meal there, but this is absolutely correct.
