And why didn't Ina Garten get fired when she refused to cook with the kid from Make a Wish foundation who had cancer? I know Ina "backpeddled," but I think we all know that she comes off as being a Yankee snob. Plus, Food Network see hers as LGBT friendly because she has her gay boyfriends over for dinner parties on her episodes.

You might be thinking of Sandra lee and her terrible show where she cooks with pre-prepared shite.

Her boyfriend/partner is the governor of NY

And her husband was the Dean of Yale Business School. I believe he's a professor now. He was a policy wonk with Clinton and a Wall Street Guy. He's smart as hell. I read one of his books although I forget the name x

Well, it's sort of a false win for Paula Dean since it was thrown out because the plaintiff didn't have a cause of action due to her own race. Should not have been brought in the first place since the chick wasn't black. Caused a lot of damage, but they didn't get any money out of it.

I'm wondering if Paula Deen has grounds for a defamation of character suit against her sponsors that dropped her: Wal Mart, Sears, JC Penney's, etc?

I despise her show. Nothing she cooks looks appetizing. It looks too damned neat, and is more about presentation than edibility. Who wants to eat a cilantro and lemongrass salad on top of a hibiscus root biscuit?

I was never big on Paula Deen because i hated her accent, and i didn't want diabetes, but at least her shite looked delicious.

I've used several of her recipes that I love. I like her show. Not crazy about her, but everything can be made at home and she uses fresh products so I enjoy it.

I like a lot of Paula's recipes, as well, particularly desserts and casseroles.

What did Walmart, Sears and her other sponsors do to defame her?

I haven't made many of Paula's recipes. The only one I can think of is the mini corndogs and I liked those. I'll make them again. I've sworn that one day before I leave this earth, I'm going to have that burger on the donut bun with the egg and bacon and whatever else it is she puts on it. I want to taste it! I didn't watch her show much, though.

Ina's beef bourguignon and coq au vin recipes are both easy and really good. I love her roasted shrimp method and her dressing that she serves with those. She's got a good mac and cheese and I like the lobster mac and cheese she does for an entree. Nothing is difficult and what I've had has a lot of flavor. She uses a lot of fresh herbs and I like that.

"If her contracts were found to be unlawfully and baselessly terminated, thus causing her brand significant depreciation.. would she have recourse?" is my question.

Ina's oatmeal and maple scones are awesome. The only issue I have with Ina's cooking.. and Paula's for that matter, is there's too much butter and cream.. so you can't go overboard and eat this way regularly.

Paula Deen's baking is very good. The best cake I've tasted from her's is The Pecan Praline cake.

Pecan Praline Cake
Ingredients
Cake
•2 1/2 cups cake flour
•1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
•1/2 teaspoon salt
•1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
•2 cups sugar
•4 large eggs
•2 teaspoons vanilla extract
•1 cup whole milk
•1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Syrup
•3 tablespoons water
•3 tablespoons sugar
•1 tablespoon bourbon

•Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting
•Pecan Praline Topping

Preparation
For cake:
Position rack in center of oven and preheat to 350°F. Butter two 9-inch-diameter cake pans with 2-inch-high sides. Line bottoms of pans with waxed paper; butter paper. Whisk flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl to blend. Using electric mixer, beat butter and sugar in large bowl until fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating until well blended after each addition. Mix in vanilla. Beat in dry ingredients in 3 additions alternately with milk in 2 additions, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Stir in chopped pecans. Divide batter between pans.

Bake cakes until tester inserted into center comes out clean and cakes begin to pull away from sides of pans, about 35 minutes. Cool cakes in pans on racks 10 minutes. If necessary, run small knife around pan sides to loosen cakes. Turn cakes out onto racks; peel off waxed paper. Cool cakes completely. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Wrap in foil and store at room temperature.)

Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients
•12 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
•1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
•2 teaspoons vanilla extract
•4 cups powdered sugar
Preparation
Using electric mixer, beat 12 ounces cream cheese, 1/2 cup butter and vanilla extract in large bowl until smooth. Add powdered sugar 1 cup at a time, beating until smooth after each addition

For syrup:
Stir 3 tablespoons water and sugar in small saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to simmer. Remove from heat. Stir in bourbon. Cool.
Using 9-inch-diameter tart pan bottom as aid, transfer 1 cake layer, flat side up, to platter. Brush some of syrup over top of cake. Spread 1 cup cream cheese frosting over top. Top with second cake layer, flat side up. Brush top and sides of cake with remaining syrup. Spread remaining frosting over top and sides of cake. Arrange Pecan Praline Topping all over top of cake, mounding slightly in center. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover with cake dome and refrigerate. Let stand at room temperature 1 hour before serving.)

Pecan Praline Topping

Ingredients
•1 large egg white
•1 tablespoon water
•1/2 cup (packed) golden brown sugar
•1 1/2 cups pecan halves

Preparation
Preheat oven to 300°F. Butter rimmed baking sheet. Using fork, beat egg white and 1 tablespoon water in medium bowl until foamy. Add brown sugar and stir until sugar dissolves. Add pecan halves and toss to coat. Spread pecan mixture on prepared baking sheet (some egg white-sugar mixture will flow out onto baking sheet). Bake until nuts are deep brown and crisp, stirring occasionally, about 25 minutes. Remove from oven; stir to loosen nuts from baking sheet. Cool nuts completely on sheet. (Can be prepared 3 days ahead. Store in airtight container at room temperature.)

I'm not a big cake person, but if you put the words "praline" or "caramel" in the mix, you have my attention. That looks good.

No, you can't eat butter and cream every day, but I don't think I've made much of Ina's with those two ingredients together. You can also adjust recipes to suit you. I do that with most recipes I use, not necessarily making them healthy, mind you, but rather like I want them to be.

She can only sue Lisa Jackson for slander. Can't sue the companies because their grounds for termination were based on facts, i.e. - transcripts of racist remarks.

I certainly haven't followed this case closely, but I'm not aware of any slander. Ms. Jackson sued PD for creating a hostile work environment. This was proven to be untrue.

This is more of a case for legal fees paid by the losing party to dissuade frivolous lawsuits.
