I think the whole PC thing is stupid but I never liked Paula. She can't cook. Her voice was like finger nails on a chalk board.

Now, if Alton Brown says '****' and gets fired I'm going to be upset. Alton rules.

America's hearts all just gave a sigh of relief.

Outside of my undergrad years, I have lived in Georgia my entire life. I am from the same part of the state she is originally from. I have never, ever encountered anyone with something approaching her "accent". That shite is so played up I don't see how she gets away with it.

Here's a link for ya

Although, actually, Food Network did not give a reason publicly for not renewing her contract.

Half a page is all this deserves? I'm no Paula Deen fan but she got railroaded and this politically correct crap is way out of line. Anyone think the Neelys have never said Honky or Redneck?

Think Bobby Flay has never talked about a New York Jew?

Food Network is an absolute piece of shite. I guess we will just have to settle for Mystery Diners and all the scripted crap and Ina Gartens gay guests as well as the cupcake wars cupcake.

I fashion Paula and the Nelly's as pretty much the same in food as well as irritating to watch.

Don't get me wrong. There is a real sense of joy I get in not having to listen to that over the top yaaaaawwwwwlllll BS and her ridiculous down home folksy crap, but it's really a sour taste to know its not over just her stupid cooking shite. That would be something I could cheer for, but this PC shite has gotten entirely out of control, and not to take the Food Board too far off the subject of food here, but whoever says they haven't said a racial word in their life out of anger, or as a joke, or to get a reaction or the like is a LYING P.O.S. There I said it, and yes, I feel better. I'm not condoning it as I think it has no place today, but lets be honest and quit lying to ourselves here out of pure unadulterated Fear of being labeled ourself.

Come on. You know you want a lard Popsicle stick with a softened butter dipping sauce on the side.

I've seen her called redneck many times by people proclaiming she's a racist. That's as offensive a term to me as if I were black. The only thing she admitted to was using derogatory remarks years ago. The allegations now are from a fired, disgruntled employee and she has denied making them. If I am held accountable for making comments years ago than I'm in a world of shite. Guess I'll never be on Food Network or President. The very executives that fired her are the ones that promoted the "southern" charm and rode her southern charm all the way to the bank. Why is it ok for a black person to use that term but a white person using it is racist? If everyone wants it out of our language than by god I don't want to here honky, cracker, redneck, Jew, kike, dago, jap, chink, yankee and a few more I'll think of.

Imagine if Paula was a guy... RAPE...

See how easy that was?

You're right martini. This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

You forgot Limey, Frog, and Mick just to name a few. Matter of fact I can't think of a group that doesn't have a derogatory term attached to them. I don't remember what board it was on, but a poster made an exceptional point IMO, and that was that these words are used to hurt people, and when people get angry and want to lash out, the worst name that they think will offend them and hurt them comes right out of people's mouths. Does that mean they are hateful people? Not necessarily. It just means that right there, they were being hateful. Now some people live in a constant state of hate and we call them racists, but to say that because someone uttered a derogatory term before that it means they are racist, and at the same time ignore the log in our own eye, is kind of the height of hypocrisy as far as I'm concerned.

Y'all left off spic, wetback, towel head and the ever-popular redskin.

This was a total witch hunt. I'm not a big fan of her recipes but this is just way over the top as PC goes.
