And look, I follow Tyrann Matheu on Instagram. I like the guy a lot.. But those kids say that word (in several derivatives and variable spellings).. white and black, teenagers to adults. I just don't get it. It was never spoken in my house. It wasn't allowed. Hell and damn and any other four letter words were off limits.. and the word "queer".. Whoah.. that was an arse whippin.

You're right and the way I read it, they say it in an endearing way, also. We were not allowed to use that word. I can't stand it. I don't allow said in my presence. It's rare that I hear these days, but I have asked people to refrain from using it and they adhere to my request. It's like fingernails on a chalk board to me regardless of who is saying it. I guess my upbringing rubbed off on me in a big way.

I feel like this is going to wear off and she'll make a comeback somewhere else in some other way. I read she will now appear on the Today Show tomorrow. Hopefully, her handlers have learned a lesson on handling or she's gotten new ones.

Yeah I have a feeling this will follow about the same trajectory as the Don Imus "nappy headed hoes" controversy.

I feel like this is far from Don Imus's "Nappy Headed Ho's" comment. Deen shows far more character in admitting to saying it and coming clean on the issue. Imus was indignant.

And personally (pardon me for being crass) the way she described the men in white uniform and black tie.. she was romanticising juuuust a little too much.. I don't think she's a racist as much as she may be a little more than infatuated.. just mho

I might have a smidgen of sympathy for her if she hadn't promoted and profited from producing horribly unhealthy food for the masses for years, then finding herself with diabetes, wrangles a spokesperson role with a drug company to make money off what she did. C'mon, she is not worth worrying about, Bourdain hit that one on the head.

I agree. I think that just sounded wrong when coupled with the fact that she admitted saying the word. She's just thinking old Southern history there and not racist history. That was a red herring in my opinion.

How many other cooking shows are as unhealthy? Probably most of them. Even Bourdain talks about in his book that you think you are eating healthy but "I'm using butter and lots of it because that's what makes it good and you buy it."

He is nowhere near a choir boy and I don't take his commentary seriously just like I don't take Paula Deens. She cooks with butter. Well? So do I but watching her put a stick of butter in something doesn't make me want to go out and get the churn.

And another thing about butter or whatever people complain about. If I put a stick of butter into a pound of red beans ( something I heard from Tom Fitzmorris years ago) and it makes them better- which it does, that pound of beans will serve what six-eight people? So my butter intake is a tablespoon or less per serving? The fumes I breath on I-10 daily are worse than that.

Bourdain can be disgusting. It's too early in the morning to rehash some of the the things he's eaten and said.. But right now, I'd feel much more comfortable having a breakfast prepared by Paula Deen than one prepared by him.

I would venture to guess Paula Deens butter intake is better for me than Bourdains heroin/cocaine/crack intake.

As I said, I don't put a lot of stock in Bourdain. I watch him as I watch her and take all content with a grain of salt. Pot kettle, kettle pot.

Boudain is every bit a creation of the food industry as that old bag, just in a different direction. To each his own...I don't care to follow a recipe from either (does Bourdain have any?), but couldn't care less if someone else does. That being said, PD will come out of this better than ever in a year or less. Great pub...wonder if she consulted Tiger beforehand...

Take it with a grain of salt, but the two or three people I know who have dealt directly with Deen say she is an absolutely miserable, contemptible human being in the way she treats "underlings" and her need for special treatment.

Plus her on air personality is enough make you want to throw the tv out of the window.

I wonder if the Neelys have ever said anythnig racist, and the bigger question is, would they be fired if they did?

They need to be run for the same reason Paula should have been run. They are unwatchable.

At least they are promoting genuine love and affection, feelings I'm not even sure that dummy Deen is capable of having.

I'm not sure what Paula Deen did to you, but I'm sure she is sorry. It's not your fault....

I'll repeat it . . . Deen is an a-hole from square one. Ask around.
